They finally gave us the go ahead to work from home today. I mean the kids haven't been in school in weeks, but the teachers now have it even without kids. Kinda figured it was that bad. We are now working at home til the first of the year.

Got an appointment for my vaccination tonight. That's 8 hours from now and I'm probably going to feel miserable tomorrow. So I use the time 'til then and build on some current projects now. Tomorrow when I can do nothing, but lie in bed, I'll post on here whether you missed me or not  ;D

I'll let you know how I feel with Astrazeneca.

I have had both vacinations since February now and really didn't have too many ill effects except for a sore arm for a few days. Never had a shot that hurt later like that.

Things are starting to open back up, but we are still in our covid frame of mind as my daughter doesn't have any vaccine yet. I sure hope those child trials finish up soon so we can get all the way back to normal. I haven't been to a store or any place like that since last year other than to get a new battery for my truck.

A friend of mine got it, early-mid February. She lost her sense of taste and smell and got tested, and showed positive. Quarantined for a week or so, got tested again and negative. That was her only symptoms. She said it was really weird not being able to taste or smell though. It's just weird how some people have little or no effects and some people die from it.
The restrictions aren't bad here, but there are some rules. My favorite hang out spot got shut down the other day. They had it coming though. They didn't follow any of the rules. Were talking full capacity shoulder to shoulder just about.  On one hand it's easy to say they shouldn't have let so many people in, but who's going to turn down paying customers? Especially in the restaurant industry. Profit margins are razor thin in a normal situation. I hope businesses will be able to survive this.

Yeah, a lot of service type businesses around my area have shut down too. I am thinking once we get that vaccine for kids I am hopeful we will be over the worst of it.

Well, I expected the worst, but nothing happened! I sense no side-effects from my vaccination with AstraZeneca even though my parents felt horrible for two and four days after they got their shot.

Glad you are feeling no ill effects. Folks are kind of the same way over here with the shots. Some really bad side effects and some none at all.

This isn't covid related but people around here are freaking TF out about the pipeline hack. People are panic buying gas and creating a shortage because individual stations can't keep up with 4 or more times the usual traffic. There are lines wrapped around stations like it's 1975. Just STOP. if you don't need gas don't buy it. I have enough in both my car and truck to last until next Thursday. It's like the toiletpaper crisis all over again. Fortunately people can't sell gas on ebay.
If this goes another week who knows how bad it could be. Worst case scenario I have to use super high octane. Which in the car would actually be beneficial, because though it can be run on 87, the compression ratio is really high, 13:1, and the timing has to be delayed on 87 to avoid knocking, which isn't ideal. I usually use mid-grade.  In the truck, i use 87, i don't think it would benefit from a higher test, but if that's all there is, i guess I'll have to. I'm not going to contribute to the madness. I'll see what things are like Saturday my usual fill up day.

Yeah, I read about that Monday night and it was on the news and in the papers yesterday. As far as I know "only" the states along the East Coast are affected, right? But I suppose most states across the country will be affected when fuel is transferred to the East to fill the gap. The news say that gas is going to be more expensive here because the USA were going to buy contingents of fuel from Europe (probably Norway and the UK). People aren't panic-tanking here yet, but gas has become more expensive since the beginning of the year. The German government started to increase the price by 10 cents per liter every year from now on to help reduce CO2 emissions. That makes 37,8 cents per gallon more - every year. And 60% of the price for gas we get here is already summed up by 4 different taxes! It’s crazy. I'm just glad I'm not dependent on driving. I ride my bike to the campus every day and use the car about 3 times a month. Mileage may vary because if I drive home twice or three times a year it's a distance of 363 miles.
So yesterday I got some gas for 1.47€/liter ($6.66/gallon), which was "cheap" in comparison because other gas stations took 10 cents more per liter ($7.12/gallon). It's expected to increase up to 1.80€/liter ($8.16/gallon) here in Germany over the next couple weeks.
You're right on the eBay business. I'm sure if people could, some would re-sell their gas on eBay for a fortune. And people panic-buying stuff is only making the problem worse.
I'm just glad I can jump on the train whenever I need to. Took me 10 minutes to work every day for 3 1/2 years for 60 bucks a month, so that was far cheaper than using the car and saved some mileage to maintain the value and condition a bit.

I hope this issue will be solved, soon, but I'm afraid that these hacks will increase globally over the next years/decade...it's just the new way to make trouble. Serious trouble.

Yeah now we have this gas thing. Cause people don't have common sense.

All I know is I got the call my girl gets her covid vacination in a few weeks so we might actually be able to go out and do some stuff this summer!

Well, if there is gas. :o

I was at one of my stores building a display and the GM and some random guy were talking aboyt it. The guy was like yeah I called all my family members and told them all to fill their tanks up. I don't have a car but I bought two gallons to sell when people are stranded. I got pissed. I said people like you are the problem. There is plenty of gas for everyone, you're creating a panic situation where people are buying needlessly causing the problem. He was like well that's true. Damn right it's true.

Then last night tge sales rep sent a group text to all the drivers saying everyone should fill their trucks up everyday. I'm like wait stop, that's only going to make it worse.  I feel like the one guy on a burning building trying to get people to stop trampling each other, but the building isn't really on fire it's just a bunch of idiots yelling fire.

On a different note. For real though, I'm thinking of getting the vaccine just so I can take a cheap vacation. $200 for a four day cruise to nassau. Sheeeit. Sign me up. Also cross country round trip flights also $200. Im going somewhere.

Go for it. I have been vaccinated since early March.

Good news, my daughter gets her first shot today. She will be ready to roll before June is over!

Something good from the pandemic. Some were crazy about not getting packages during this time.
