I've gone back to the big shelf and repainted most of it because I hated the colors. Added some dirty weathering after painting them a sand color. Also sealed to gaps around the backs walls I installed for a more seamless look.
Skiff and Rodians for scale.

And I'm building more of the foam-insulation mini-dio walls that can be arranged on the big shelf to give me different layouts for display and/or figure-photos. These new ones are double-sided with different paint and details on each side to give me more options.

Far from done, but to give you an idea of the potential:

If you're thinking about building something similar here's some detail about the lighting.
*I used these lights:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WQFP3AO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR1hUJeHsyA4nrBsrPZwaUiQLX7RizSsjugkPWKDPWgR9PHU0HMtyYbHAz8
The light strips are super easy to work with, can be cut and spliced together to fit whatever length you need.
*I installed the lights in these tracks:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MNR18H1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR189wD5L6NJnZ4j1wR0J2p6mnI9vTjWoHCWSgOD-ZBWmc4VHo7pNJTXVak
The tracks come with the light diffuser cover, and mounting hardware.
*I used this power supply:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DKSI0S8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR1wo9v2xZiMaDzbuK5tYWT15jd_mEVQjefJ1zEgsLfy_LmIi7_q8dn9-zQ
*And this splitter for the power supply:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OK9NMP2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR39GQsE_Z6zI4XCS9fL42x6DYhMBf47vowpC7Pqd5V8LIORQB5bFThQJuI
*I also needed a bunch of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DM7EXX2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR0eL5NtwqVrXnLktxRe4oZMY6Rp8HMc5tQydhiZT84mbAZtLwzzlvFIJCM
*And some wire:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009VCZ4V8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR0NtH6XZOv8nB7KCb8xAUA-IKiOQ9CW9nD2asKIU0afn6kkkjw7TSXTLU8
The project required a bunch of wire connections so you'll also need a soldering iron and solder. (Which I already had on hand, but you'll be able to find pretty easily.)
*And I bought this set of various sized shrink wrap for this and future projects:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MFA3OFA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR2_5RDmZbmYaWjEiu0ZzCtyyUkoxSEQ5gJ72OXL9BIJCrFz8eBQWWjdpew
Also, I plan to add more lights later, but they'll be individual LEDs placed in scenes for effect. I have not purchased the LEDs and resistors for that part of the project yet.

Added some "structural elements" to the big-shelf dio.

Minor update; got some paint on those new "structural elements". Probably still some spots need a second coat of paint, and definitely it needs weathering.

I had some scraps and bits of leftover insulation foam stacked near the back of the shelf and had an interesting thought. So I knocked together this little stairway-landing. It needs some sanding and painting still. It fits neatly between "structural" beams and like the mini-dio walls it'll be modular! It fits between those "structural" beams on 2 different levels or can be removed entirely. I can put a "door" on top (as in the pictures below), or I could leave the door off. I really like that it adds depth to the shelf by allowing figures in the back to be seen better.

This is looking really good. I particularly like your staircase, that's a great way to use extra foam.

Here's the current progress. I should have time for some trim paint on the third level tomorrow. Forth level still needs a LOT of work.
