Mal'kar was a Mandalorian general 3475 years before the battle of Yavin. As one of the best leaders Mandalore had, he was tasked with the major push in expanding the Mandalorian Empire coreward. Campaign after campaign, he was unstoppable. As his forces were mounting their attack on Shaldrin IV, a lone small shuttle approached them. The only occupant identified himself as Hin Nisan, a Jedi. Nisan challenged Mal'kar to combat. Not very Jedi, which intrigued Mal'kar. Mal'kar accepted the challenge and the two combatants met on the Kadilero Mountain Range near the equator of Shaldrin IV. Both skilled in various combat styles, the fight lasted hours. Nisan was armed with his two main lightsabers, a pair of tonfa-shaped hilt sabers. He was also trained in Graqirin martial arts. Mal'kar fought with a sword made from Beskar. As night fell, the two combatants exhausted and hungry, carried on but were stopped by the growl of a selrin tiger. It leaped toward Mal'kar and Nisan used the power of the Force to push it away. In the pause that followed, Mal'kar laid down his weapon and gave Nisan his word that Mandalore will not attack Shaldrin IV.
