Scott Toy Guru Neitlich also shared his thoughts on The Black Series Rancor on his YouTube channel, which I find worth to share:

Why did the Haslab Rancor fail and why are fans glad about this?

Some of the comments they have been getting on their facebook post are pretty daggone awful. I mean I get it some folks are dissatisfied and I fell they are right to feel that way, but the way some of them go about communicating that are just bad.

I mean cmon try to be a little professional. Like JDeck and Philipp's points, all are sound and valid and are not flaming. Those I think Hasbro would listen too, but with all the flaming on there Hasbro will just think all those suggestions are trolls and make the same mistakes again.

I give Hasbro a lot of slack, because I understand business, mostly on the distribution end, but a little of the manufacturing process. I've had experiences with most of their major retailers, and I know how Walmart is. They intimidated companies into getting what they want and breech contract with zero accountability.  Complaining about Walmart exclusives is a lost cause.
I can assure you I'm not a hasbro shill or anything.
My biggest gripe was Pulse, but they've really improved things there. I actually got a courtesy email saying my stormtroopers will ship next week and to make sure my info was correct. That's nice. They keep product in stock. Im more satisfied now.

I am definitely not a Hasbro promoter either, and can understand some of the frustration folks have, but simply cannot and will not condone the type of attitude and language some of the "fans" used against them when this failed.

One can critique and point out where things were missed. Still, at the end of the day, I don't know how fans who use this type of language and stance can ever get Hasbro to consider their views. I almost think some of them think, well if I flame better they will sure do it my way next time. I hate to even be remotely associated with those types of folks.

There were definitely some design, pr, and cost issues with this release. I kinda hope they go back and revisit that weird face articulation thing, but appreciate the fact that we had a new huge item we could decide on.

The hype for this second Black Series roleplay project is breathtaking!

Yeah, I noticed the other day this was good.

I doubt it breaks 2,000.

To me those sabers are silly since their use as helicopter rotors in REBELS. Maybe it would sell better if Reva was a more liked character as well. $500 bucks or even 550€ ($600) is just beyond healthy. So glad to have gotten the Sail Barge for that money, instead.
Let's bet for 2k backers by the end of the countdown.
This is where the fun begins...

We should start a bet Philipp. I guess it might make it to 2,000. I still doubt it though.

At this point I don't even see Reva's lightsaber pass 1,600 pre-orders...don't know why that generates so much schadenfreude in me...maybe because I'm still falling in disappointment about the Kenobi show.

I had to look up that word, man it nails it right on the head for this next HasLab project after the Rancor.

And then I see that HISS and just shake my head.

The Fail is Complete

This is the second HasFail under the banner of The Black Series...

Did anyone here back this project after all?

I hope not to see any more of Reva...I've had enough of this character already in a show that was not even hers!

I just hope they are learning by these non backed projects.

I even think we all know how they could have gotten that Rancor backed too. I mean if they had just gotten the new Keeper and then a harness for Boba to ride him that would have been backed like yesterday.

Somehow Hasbro doesn't seem to know what is coming from Disney anmore? Something seems messed up there.

Absolutely! I also wonder who the heck sets those stupid due dates on HasLabs...I mean 40 days are pretty tight to back a hobby item in the $300-500 range right? Especially if they blow out 3 projects at the same time right before the Holiday Season...
