Back in 2009 forum member Reconsgt started a topic dedicated to prototypes of original Kenner toys for the Star Wars line. You can find his Catalog Project here.

This topic here is created to collect images of prototypes from Hasbro for the modern Star Wars line.

I'm beyond thrilled to see the material that Derryl DePriest was allowed to include in his kickstarter Archive Edition book about The Vintage Collection. As of this post, the crowd-funded books are supposed to ship in September 2021.

I've previously reviewed a  prototype of the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, which was part of the Class II vehicle assortment in The Clone Wars line in 2009.

But the reason why I start this topic is a video by Rustbelt Collector. I already shared a video of him a while ago when we discussed these Phase II Clone Trooper bootlegs based on the III-41 Clone Trooper of the ROTS line from 2005.

In these two videos here, he shares 6 Clone Trooper figures that never made it to retail back in 2005. And I'm especially excited to see these images because I started collecting back then.
So when I watched these videos below, I felt the same excitement from 16 years ago when everything Star Wars was completely new to me.

If you want to go for this ride as well, make sure to check out Rustbelt Collector on YouTube!

Probably the most exciting discovery in his videos at least to me is, that I now know a website, which I didn't know before. It is called PROTOTYPE ARCHIVES and dedicated to Star Wars:

I'm especially amazed by the images found in the category miscellaneous on Prototype Archives.

Based on these image below, which were taken from Prototype Archives, early box designs for the Episode III were shown with "Birth of the Empire" in order to keep the actual name for the movie secret. I must admit, at first glance I actually thought that it was an early concept for the last movie of the Skywalker Saga.
And as if this was not incredible enough, there is a Class I vehicle and a pack-in figure that never made it to retail as part of the Revenge of the Sith toy line:

The fact that many customisers out there made this Clone Trooper figure by cutting off the visor of the III- Clone Commander (red) is quite funny now that I know that Hasbro apparently considered to make this version an official release!

What are your thoughts on these? Are you a fan of Clone Troopers as well or have you become tired of all the color variations over the years? Let me know in the comments below!

I like the box design with the flames.
