I got some painting done today. I don't know how you do this clint but I LOVE the figure you made that looks like this one is starting to look, so this is 2 aps white, then the black thin line treatment, then 2 coats of white again. 2 coats blue on visor and goggles. Then I open up the tan I bought and started applying it and it is enamel. I was wondering why it was thicker that the other 3 colors I bought but didn't figure everything out until I applied the first stroke. I will have one or two more touch up sessions before the helmet is done.




The RC is OK but I am thinking it is looking like a football helmet with all the tan areas. It looked so cool just white with tan cheeks, I am thinking I used too much tan.







Any ideas?

It doesn't look to be too much tan in my book.  Perhaps once you have the body painted for your RC it'll look different.

No, it's not too much tan, i dont think. good job on the tedious detail lines. It's like I get a primer coat on the helmet, then the lines, then the primary color, and back and forth to correct slip ups until it looks right.

Can I ask, do you use masking tape or do you paint the lines by hand?

thanks guys, this is some very tedious work. The RC is not bad I am just not in love with it, we will see what happens. I may do as Phatty said and not change anything until I have done the body. Clint I love the new paint. It is pretty thin so I didn't add a drop of water as usual. I painted straight out of the jar and coverage and flow is a lot better than the folk art or apple barrel. Thanks Jules and I have never used any tape on figures, all free hand. I did try it when I first started customizing and had some trouble with it bleeding under the tape and building up on the edges so I never tried again.

nice work on the clone.  I'm definitely not seeing too much tan at all and I personally like the helmet being one piece.

Wow you guys started with the good stuff. This is my first time buying them as I have used Apple Barrel for years. There are no hobby shops in my town. What sucks is someone had put an enamel tan on the acrylic rack and i didn't notice when I bought it. Tomorrow I am breaking in the pin vice.

man, I love seeing every corner of the screen fill-in character in the palace scenes recreated in custom form.   Sure that's because I'm big fan of Jabba's part and all, yes definitely, but mostly I'm just amazed to see toys of random characters I've never ever seen on-screen after the hundreds of times I've seen Return Of The Jedi, even when I'm watching it to nit pick the backgrounds.   :)
