Glad you guys are liking Jek! I used GI Joe Heavy Duty from the ROC line. I sculpted his belly with Aves Fix-it, shortened his legs and re drilled the holes for the feet. Next I sanded his face to thin it up a bit and sanded the rest of the figure. Then I washed it and allowed to dry. Flat black base coat on everything the colors you see were added to get the desired effect and textures. After doing the the custom inspired by Art de Whill I have been thinking about texture more with my paint aps.

Back to the Apocalypse project, the next challenge was to design a humanoid species for future chapters. This is a brief description of what I was working with to create this character.

Hajhti - the seemingly friendly inhabitants of a desert planet where winds are extreme. Although they use technology they are very tribal and have spiritual superstitions. They are a proud people who have little and live the bleakest of lives.

Awesome!!! He so tall and skinny he fits the description you gave! Nice paint apps, looks like he has a lot of sunburn and peeling skin.

Wow... the bottoms of his feet must be one big callous from walking on the hot sands and sharp rocks of the desert. This figure is amazing! You know how I feel about deserts and their creatures. Love the creepiness this guy has. A desert mystic, or shaman of the sandpeople kind of feeling. Bravo!

That desert-dweller is too cool!  I can almost sense that there is a darkness to him, or he shapeshifts into something eeeeviiill.

He was made using an avatar figure right?

The skin tones look REALY good, I wish I could get painting flesh figured out.  any pointers?

Thanks guys, glad you like the character design.

Spud, the secret for flesh tones is thinning out the paint with water and applying it in 3-4 layers to get proper coverage. Although I did not do that with this figure. I achieved this look by starting with a grey primer coat followed with a mauve to reddish coat. I only applied 1 layer so some of the primer coat showed through. Then I applied a thin coat of leather applied kind of quick and sloppy. The final ingredient was drybrushing the entire figure in tan. Then I painted the details like his arm band.

That is an interesting idea Jedi Mindtrix! I shall ponder that one...

Thanks DO, that too is an interesting idea for the character.

Art, thanks buddy. Glad you had time to check out my work.

AFE, haha yea, the idea is that they are adapted to the planet so I agree their skin is very thick and coarse. Exactly the thought process I was trying to stir with the paint work.

Orange, thanks man. Glad to hear the design fits the character and his environment.

Your work on the Hajhti is fantastic.  The great thing about your customs is that one doesn't even need a story to figure out where these guys fit into the SW universe.  Your work instantly brings out a number of story lines in my mind that I could follow.

Using minimal clothing, you achieved the wind-warped look quite well.  I love the tattered loin cloth...and is that the neck rags from the Han Solo (sandstorm) fig from a couple of years ago?

All in all, outstanding work!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!
