Nice droids. I saw in the background you have a ton of astromechs. I wonder who has more astromechs, you or Jay?

Wattoh I need you sitting beside me in church on Sunday. You sure have a way of prohetizing.
L.E. I like both astromechs. I really like seeing the movie pics and how they match up with custom. I would have never remembered that grey droid without your movie pics. he looks good too, perhaps a few blaster marks on the dome!

Incredible paint apps, LE! I love the light blue one. Nice reference pic as well. You have got to be toting quite a collection of custom astros by now.

Love the drab grey droid...
Even though I have watched Star Wars countless times, it always gives me a warm feeling inside when I see an aspect of the movie I''d not noticed before.
Well done Master Spry!

Thanks for all the great comments guys!
Jay, thanks again buddy, I'll come up with designations in the next day or so. I also have a R1 droid coming up as he just needs a bit of weathering now.
Julian, I love finding model shop images and background pics to get references of things that were made and filmed but cut or hard to see or just off camera. Glad you liked the grey one, I am thinking R2-G1 for him.
Clint thanks man! I was thinking about going a shade darker on that blue but it has grown on me since I added the white stripe on the dome. I think I am keeping him as is. Yes the droid collection has grown fast as I was able to get several droids for $5 ea from a local friend that used to post here. He quit collecting Star Wars.
Shawn thanks and I too love seing reference pics when you are doing custom work on anything. I thought about how to weather him and then the fact that he did not exist after the trench run and decided to keep him shiney and clean like the pics show. So I spray painted him medium grey then sprayed chrome from further away just in little spurts then wiped and dabbed wih a paper towel. I had to do the same again with grey one last time to cover some chrome till I got the look I was satisfied with. I think this guy was put in to show the rebels were in imediate need of astromechs and this one didn't even have time for a proper paint job.
Wattoh glad you like them as you can tell I do too!
CS 78 glad you are liking the droids and I do have a few but Jay is still "the astromech god"
Lux thanks man and I'll have a few more before long.

Comprehenday my friend.
When I made R1-L4 I wished I had taken more time adding parts to him. So while I cleaned my fodder bins I got out a spare R1 and R1-L4 and set some bits on my desk that would work for them. Here is a pic of the Cantina Band member instrument painted grey and glued on.
Then I gave it a dark wash, drybrushed some silver and rubbed in some cinnamon. Here he is.
This side I left alone as it is sort of screen accurate to the only lower picture I could find of him.
The other droid I cobbled together is an idea I have had for a few weeks. He is R1-B1 a tribute to the greatest comment poster on the net, Barry. You will notice this droid has several upgrades. Sensory antenna advancements, additional arms and other machinery to make him a better mechanic. He has been programed to fix most anything from other astromechs to moisture vaporators to landspeeders even space craft. He is a new droid made by the Rebel Alliance to help out their maintenance personel.
