Wow, how cool is this! Time to go to the front page.

Spry I really like the look of this too. What a great idea and integration of parts!

Interesting, as with some modification that could make a great Z-95...

Thanks guys and AFE sure, feel free to put up these or other WIP images. I just took more progress shots but photobucket is acting up and I can't upload them.

OK guys, I got some more work done over the weekend but photobucket was acting up so I was just able to download the photos.

The fist thing I shound do today is give you a reference shot.

In this shot I have dremeled away at the part that accepts the wing on the Tie.

Now I have incerted a wooden plug with a super strong magnet glued to it. Then everything was hot glued into place.

After removing the X-Wing engine I had to dremel groves in it to fit over the details on the tie wing.

Next I dremeled a flat spot on the engine to accept another magnet and hot glued it in place.

Now I can simply put them together and they hold quite well.

Next I will use transformer parts to make the landing gear you see going through and on the outside of the wings.

Wish me luck on this next part...

Good luck Spry! This is incredible! The open cockpits picture is my favorite so far! I need to start thinking up a pilot and gunner crew for this awesome fighter! It's really anything but ugly and the ingenuity you are showing us is amazing!

Stunning, Spry!  8)  Takes a lot of artistic vision to properly ruin vehicles in a way that looks right.

Wow L.E.

I think your attention to detail on this one is amazing. Seeing that concept drawing and seeing what you have created, it seems just spot on.

This truly is a work of art.

Re: Luke Sprywalker Custom Vehicles Updated 8-24 SWA Crawler!
« Reply #339 on: August 24, 2011, 05:08:58 AM »
Thanks for the kind words guys! I know this vehicle isn't on everyones favorites list but I an intrigued by anything cobbled together out of junk that can made into a  working end result. Hope that makes sense.

We enterupt this custom vehicle program to give you pics of a vehicle that was finished a month ago but no photos were published. You may have seen it in the SWA trailer made by Kessel Run Review on the last episode of this season. For now we are calling it a crawler, no official name yet, but it is used to store cargo and has tracks to carry it over rough terrain. It is made from a vehicle I found at a thrift store about a year ago. I had been holding on to it for just the right project and one day Nate and I were on skype and he started describing this vehicle. I reached in the closet beside me and said how about something like this? So I removed the wheels and added a set of tracks from a Joe vehicle then painted and weathered the crap out of it. Well the door is weathered a bit more as it would spend some time in the sand when it is opened.

What was the crawler originally?  I can see the wheel-well where there were two axles, but I can't id it otherwise.
