Jules' Early Artwork pre- Hangarbay
« on: September 30, 2009, 02:27:21 AM »
Hi folks,

I think it was Spudafett who posted artwork from when he was younger, so I thought I'd do the same. I've just been up in the loft and removed an old dusty art folder. It mostly contains all of my scifi sketches from when I was around 18-20. Wow, I haven't looked at them for years.

So anyway, I thought that you guys might be interested in what I was up to back then, pre photoshop, when a good old pencil and paper was all you needed.

Very nice stuff there,Jules. Kind of reminds me of a refined Jean-claud Mobius if you know who that is. I love those shadows in the two pics.

Wow Jules!  Your pen and pencil skills are as good as your photoshop skills!  I've only ever done one really good piece of art, but it's still not as good as the stuff I see from you guys!

Great work!  Looks like some of the drawings I did a while back, ship design-wise.

Jules, this is some of the best art , of this kind, I've ever seen by someone who doesn't do this for a living.
I've alway been a huge fan of art, and these pictures blew me away.
Why didn't you pursue this as an occupation? You really are full of surprises.
Your perception of depth is phenomenal, and your hand is quite gifted. I am truly impressed, more than ever, and that's saying ALOT!
Seriously. WOW!

I think we all agree that Jules and his art is just amazing to view.  It is nice to get up to just see if he has added any new art each day. I must say though, I am quite surprised a comic book company or art firm didn't grab you up.

This is great stuff.
Lots of Graphic Design/Conceptual drawing type work here. wonderful line work.
But like everything else you have posted, we would not expect anythingother than greatness.

A well-built sniper rifle is a beautiful thing. Ours has two zoom modes, "Up close and personal" and "Hello, you're dead

Guys, I appreciate the compliements, but I'm not that good. I've been flicking through DeviantArt and you should see some of the work there.

Anyhow, I'm just glad you lot like my work, that's good enough for me.

man.... that is so much better than my crappy crap!  how dare you shame me by mentioning my art and then posting those beauties! lol

see, you succeeded in something I could only dream of doing.  I was very skilled at doing technical drawings with little to no perspective with only top/profile views usually... where as you have stuck the ships into fully imersed sceanes and done a great job with it!  the contrast is great.

I see some influences from star wars "correlian corvette" in there I think?

Althiugh you may think I may not appreciate it, I do. Your positive comments mean a great deal to me and they spurn me on to do even better.

Thanks again for taking the time to look at my work.

very much reminds me of my youth...20 years ago or so...
very very good stuff, I like the note regarding Mobius, or even Chriss Foss comes to my mind. You should do some traditional works again ;)
