Looking good Spud. The shape of the area that you sculpted looks like a R2 droid body shape in the reference pic. It looks like you could split one from the BAD collection in half and mount it back there. Then just sculpt the edges to blend it in. Can't wait to see the LED's in the Viagro.

luke, I am pretty sure that the build a droid part would be too big.  this is an action fleet x-wing remember, the width of the fuselage is less than an inch.
you are right about it resembling half a droid though.   My first sculpting attempt didn't quite get it right as I was trying to blend the style onto the squared off cockpit sheild....   I'm probably going to redo it after casting a copy of the a-wing cannopy which is rounded and making a different version with it and a more pronounced rounded area behind the fuselage....

but... as a prototype and proof of concept I think this works fairly well.

Oh yea that looks very much like it. I was just wondering if something like the droid would work. I knew it was action fleet but didn't realize that area was that small. I have not had mine out in years. Every action fleet vehicle used to hang from my son's ceiling with the solar system plus a few SW planets revolving around his ceiling fan...those were the days.

I can't wait to see the rest of this project.

I think at some point every collector of action fleet ships had them hanging from the ceiling... mine did the same thing when I was a kid!  I don't have enough seeling space to do that now though! I have too many.

so I just want to throw this in here for the heck of it...

I'm thinking about doing an action fleet scale babalon 5 starfury:

I think that the virago with it's wings removed would be the perfect starting point....

now I just need an extra virago...

Ok guys this was just a spur of the moment custom I threw together while looking at all the extra action fleet parts I had laying around.

I took apart an x-wing and had two extra b-wing wings that came in that lot of ships I got on e-bay the other day.  I rearanged the x-wing's engines and completely removed it's wings and came up with this:

I am planning on painting it up as a stealth fighter as for some reason it screams stealth to me.  there are some gaps in the way the wings and engines fit together that I will fill with either apoxi-sculpt or sheet styrene.  Because I used the bottom x-wing engines on the side I removed the landing gear and now it has a t-shaped hole in the engine.  I am thinking about filling it in with apoxi sculpt OR making a grid inside it with styrene and make it look like vents of somekind.. what do you guys think?

any ideas for this ship guys?  Does a shadow style paintjob seem like a good idea?

also... I don't know if I'm going to keep it.. so if anyone wants to make an offer for it when I'm finished pm me!  you guys get first pick on anything I'm planning on selling from now on, before I put it on e-bay that is.

Spud that is awesome! Reminds me of the T-Wing fighter from TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance. I'll take it! lol.

That looks really cool, Devin. Simple but elegant in design. It does remind me of the Viper but it is so much different.
If you go for a shadow paint scheme, make sure you include a bunch of grey, perhaps even throw some reds in there to break it up.

thanks guys... I realy wasn't going for anything specific with it, just throwing parts together.  Since it resembles the t-wing so well I guess that's what I'll go with...  a stealth version of the t-wing.
