lol if I had another set I might do that...
but those two are the only ones I've got.  That's what I've decided on so far.  I might make a couple little fins out of polystyrene sheet on the top or something... we'll have to see.

I'm still taking sugestions on a color scheme guys....

WIP shots:

Top shell of the CORPS hovercraft with a black base coat and hot glue blobs for a simulated cammo...

Grey secondary coat....

Check out that mess of wires... the white box is a battery comp. for two AA bateries, I showed that b4 in a previous post... all the wiring is for just 6 LED lights, two white and 4 reds

The switch for the lights is on the rear pilot seat's instrument pannel! (clever right!)

here is the shell put back together and ready for the final paint touch ups and the winglets to be added back on.

more pics and a write up on the vehicle to come shortly.....

The LAAS

Light Assault Atmospheric Speeder
(I'm taking suggestions for better names.. maybe with the word Interceptor in them...)

the LAAS is a rapid response multi-role military platform.  The speeder was designed for atmospheric use and utilizes repulsor lift engines to acheive verticle flight.  Two high performance thrusters give the speeder incredible forward speed... the ability to independently steer each thruster and menuvering winglets on each side of the craft makes the LAAS extremely agile.
Pressurized for high atmospheric missions the LAAS can be used as an extraplanetary vehicle... however with no hyperdrive and limited meneuverability in no-atmosphere environments the LAAS is an awkward vehicle in the vastness of space.  However, because it is spaceworthy it is often launched from an orbiting vessels hangar bay instead of a ground base...   this makes it an excellent support craft for the larger LAAT, a troop transport.
Once ground troops have been deployed the LAAS turns into an eye in the sky for troops as well as aerial support.
The LAAS is also an excellent interceptor and excells at taking out enemy aircraft.  Two forward mounted ion cannons in tandem with two light laser cannons can disable enemy vessels quickly and efficiently.  Another single laser cannon turret is mounted on the top of the cockpit as well.  A high powered repeating cannon can be used to strafe enemy ground targets... and when that is not enough three concussion missile tubes are revealed under the LAAS's armored shell.

a crew of two pilot the LAAS, the rear pilot being a gunner.

Just to recap:

the LAAS is constructed from the CORPS! hovercraft.  The entire vehicle was repainted.  A battery compartment as well as wiring for 6 LED's was added.  The large "repeating cannon" or gatlin gun was added to the "hood".  The small turret gun on top was added (it doesn't swivel...).   two small wings were added to each side which orignated on a GI-Joe jet-pack/ hanglider.  I think that covers it.

yeah... but most of it is all wip shots and discussion.... I counted them all today (I was curious) and I've posted 33 vehicles... half of which are permenant WIPs.....  lol

I have several more vehicle customs in the works though,  I have the Freeco Bike that I want to customize first... then I found two old model car engines, doing the same type thing that I did to my speeder bike contest entry I'm going to build a frame around the engines and make a couple more striped down speeder bikes... should be fun.

I've got to put alot of stuff up on e-bay this weekend too.... I'll probably be puting some of the speeders that are in the garage dio up for sale...

I love it! the LEDs make it and really highlight it. The winglets are cool and mounting the on/off switch inside the cockpit was awesome!!

I'm going to add LEDs to my next large project.

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

I'll make a thread about any items I put up for sale in the e-bay section.

thanks for the praise guys, those LED's were tough... took alot of soldering and working out alot of issues with how to wire them...

The LED are the bomb.

The "rorschach-flage" is not as big a win for me.

the LAAT?

Sadly, I can't think of a better name, :)

That's one helluva vehicle, Spud! Really nice work there, especially with using the hot glue to make the camo pattern and the LEDs are really the icing on this fine cake you've made. Coolness  8)!

Damn, Devin! I'm blown away by your lighting alone!  I can't get mine to work for squat!  The paint job looks great.  Any thought to trying to fab a windshield from a clear plastic?
