Tamer you'd better hurry up with that item or I'm going to run out of LED's...
Yall remember a few pages back I showed you a pic of the Freeco Speeder Bike? Well I decided not to modify it and keep it basically stock, except for adding LED lights. The bike already has "headlights" in it's design, and these just realy screamed "stick some lights in here"...
I ran into several problems right of the bat with trying to put lights in here. Once the LED's have a resistor soldered onto them they are realy realy long.... that doesn't lend well to tight spaces. I took this as a challenge though and tackled it by rearanging alot of the configuring of the wires and resistors...
second problem I ran into is that there just wasn't enough space for the battery pack on the inside of the bike. There is a small cavity behind the cockpit where the rear landing gear fold up into the body shell.... I thought about removing the landing gear completely as I figured a speeder bike didn't NEED landing gear, it's a repulsorlift vehicle... But I looked back at the footage of the episode which the bike is in and it shows it using the landing gear, so I decided I needed to leave them and find a work around.
I decided on trying to use 3 button cell watch batteries instead of 2 AAA's. Problem was I had to jerry rig a battery holder for the three batteries. Luckilly I had a plastic tube that they fit perfect in, so I put two wires in there and clamped it all together and secured it with some electrical tape and so far it's holding up....
anyway... enough bla bla, here are the pretty pictures (which I am sure most everyone has skipped all of the above and gone strait to!)
the two halves of the stock freeco bike before any of the inner framework was dremeled away or any LED's were added.
the insides with the lights and battery pack
the engines, underneath you can see the on/off switch.
Looks pretty much the same from the top....
I think it turned out realy good. Probably alot better than if I'd tried to turn it into something completely different....
