awesome job!
Spud could you give us the parts list for the LED setup? what resisters... what LED's.. etc.. and maybe a wireframe of where the resisters go.. between..etc..?

Thanks!

to be honest I don't think I'd be able to tell you that stuff...  I made sure to purchase the LED's from someone on e-bay who would include the correct resistors with each set.  You can also find some LED's that come with the resistors already soldered on with wires as well to make it even easier!

I did find out that you can't wire the LED's in succession, with one in line after the other.  Basically each one had to be wired independantly to the battery leads... it's complicated, it took alot of trial and error...   Google "LED light basics" and you should come up with some basic info to get you started.

Just make sure to purchase LED's with resistors included, it makes things alot easier!

it may be time for me to take a trip to the radio shack to buy some test materials :P Just need battery pack :P

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

seriously, buy your stuff online... radio shack is WAY to expensive.  I had to get a battery pack and a couple switches there the other day (didn't want to wait on shipping) and it cost me over 15 bucks for just a few tiny items....

Wow. That's fantastic!!! Im not into those sorta CW 2 packs, but i would seriously consider buying one of these. If only Hasbro had the initiative to do what you have done, we Star Wars fans would be a lot happier...but out of a hobby!! The lights remind me of Anakin's speeder in AOTC. Great job!!

Thanks

fourtunately for us hasbro doesn't do this, cuz the vehicles would cost WAY to much!  Honestly only about MAYBE 4-5 bucks worth of electronics went in there, and most of that is those dang expensive button cell batteries....

of course, hasbro being a huge corporation mass producing these things could add the electronics in AND keep the vehicles at the prices they are.... but if it were up to them they would DOUBLE the price instead!  ::)

Snap, I haven't checked your vehicle thing in forever either! First off, that BSG Viper, HOLY CRAP that is freaking AWESOME!  That Z-95 headhunter is totally going in the right direction, very nice! With the wings, what I did with mine that looked nice was to fuse them, add a little extra gel-type super glue around the edge, and then scrape-shave around it to blend the two wings into one (I also gave mine a bit of a rounded edge, mainly because I was trying to make the whole thing look more rounded rather than really going with the canon version).  The action fleet AT-ST, very sweet, love those guns, they really make it look mean! That stealth e/b/x-wing thing is really cool looking too, I like it way better than if you had painted it standard rebel colors, especially the red-tinted glass, very nice. Also, great work on the Freeco speeder, you really do know how to light things up nicely!

This is a custom camo barc speeder and ARF trooper that Dawn started before she moved out.... And I've been meaning to finish it so that I can sell it on e-bay...

needless to say I didn't realy try very hard on this one...  the majority of the work was hers...

... yeah, I'm ready to get rid of this one...

here is some that I'm a little more proud of...

first up a custom racing swoop called the "Blue Bird"

this started it's life as a cheap toy 4-wheeler from the dollar store.  I removed all the weels and axels.  Put in a "thruster" where the rear wheels would be...  which is realy just a small PVC pipe fitting.  I hand painted everything in blue, the chrome was on the original bike...  Then I covered the entire thing in a coat of clear gloss.

what do yall think?  This one is destined for e-bay as well....

here is another custom S-Swoop that I finished today

S-Swoops were originally built as racing swoops, but were made famous by the ruthless gangs depicted in shadows of the empire...

basically this is a stock POTF swoop that I have just spraypainted.
Base coat was a coat of "nickel" to give the metalic look to the support struts and menuevering fins.
that was masked off and then a second coat of red was put on.   Then purple was sprayed from a distance to cover the center... then a fourth color, blue, was sprayed on the front end at an angle so that it would "blend" into the other colors...

I think I achieved a pretty cool "hot rod" like color blend...

here is the spray paint before detailing and weathering:

here is the finished swoop after weathering:

here are two WIP shots

another S-Swoop:

and the racing drag speeder

neither one is finished, I'm going to do some detailing and weathering to the outside and the cockpit of the drag speeder...

both of these when finished, will be put up on e-bay.
