just watched the clone wars season 2 episode 3, "children of the jedi"

first appearance of Cad Bane's Xandu Blood, his modified P-38 magnaguard fighter.

here is a screen shot:

here are some concept art shot depicting it that I pulled from the official clone wars web site's episode guide:

I wish I had these when I was painting up my version.  It looks alot darker, with more green in it than the titanium version does...

I think though, all things considered, my version got pretty close?  idk, what do you guys think?

This is kind of funny because when I was watching this episode with my son I saw the ship and started picturing your custom and thinking hmmm, looks like the colors are a bit different. You did a great job on the ship but it was much darker in the CW cartoon.

Looks good dark like that, Spud. You should weather the heck out of it.

yup... I have a silver/grey that I'm going to use as a base coat and then come back over it in a few spots with black highlights and then give it some weathering.  I'll be trying to emulate the look of the AT-AT and AT-ST.

what do you think of the simplified top turret?

I like it! and you changed out the top turret. I like the dark look for now and can't wait to see the silver over the top. I liked it before but the new design is even better. Can't wait to see more and glad you are feeling better.

It was so dark, I didn't even notice the turret. I like how it's more of a gunner's station, now.

now it's truly perfect

I liked it before when it was transplanted from the AAT, you know I thought it worked as a turret, but this is hella better and more Republic-esque

black is an improvement too, looking forward to seeing what you do with the final paint job

lol hawkeye over at st6 I think is the only one who has had any negative comments on the new look.  He thinks that the big cannon looks "barely attached" and says he see's problems with a tank like this having too much recoil in the big cannon....

My explanation for that... well... the tank hovers, so any recoil would be transfered into a backwards shift in the tank itself right?  and perhaps the cannon itself is recoiless, with recoil shock absorbers built in... idk

well it's pretty muggy outside so I think I'm going to try and go out and paint in the garage and hope that the paint drys right.  I hate this time of the year in ky... always wet, muggy and saturated....   :P

it's Star Wars, where lasers are everywhere, people carry killing glow sticks,  and explosions in space make noise

recoil of the cannon and physics are not an issue IMO

The Viper-X Project:

basically this is a heavilly customized x-wing with alot of dremel work.  The only thing that I used that WAS NOT a part of the original ship was the styrene sheets for the wings and top fin.

I present the first WIP pics of the Viper-X

well, what do you guys think so far?  I've so far since these images added apoxi sculpt to the opening in the nose, and a few cracks between the wings and engines, and the guns and wings.  I'm going to repaint the entire thing as well as add some extra plastic sheet "armor" pieces to the wings to give them some more depth.

any ideas on what to do better? different?  Paint schemes?
