Yes, great first step!!
I like it!! I think it makes for a very interesting effect and will blend well with the pattern you plan to put on it.

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

I finished up the dewback this morning.  Idk if I realy like the final result, I definately like it better than the original, but IDK how well the spots came out...  let me know what you guys think:

the mountain dewback is a species of dewback which makes it's home in the rocky mountainous areas of tatooine.  More agressive and territorial these dewbacks have vibrant colorations and patterns to help break up their pattern against the rocky alcoves they live in.

I don't know, buddy. I liked it better in the shot where you had just put on the black.

Where is that shot where we first started talking about this? Do you think it would be harder to simulate the coloring on that lizard?

yeah i agree with Clint... im not too sure about the spots either he almost looks like some hippys got ahold of him (flower power!!) the red along the spine looks pretty good too but it needs something else, i cant think what but maybe a more earthy color

A well-built sniper rifle is a beautiful thing. Ours has two zoom modes, "Up close and personal" and "Hello, you're dead

I think the flash makes the grey (they are actually a light grey) spots show up in contrast too much.  I think I'm going to go back over them with a darker color to soften them a bit...

I'm not too thrilled with the spots either.  They do look like flowers...   I think maybe it could have done without them entirely, but it's too late now.  I hope I can soften their effect by masking over them with somethign a little darker.

bottom line is I think I'll probably sell this one and get another dewback and try it again.

btw clint, here is a better reference picture of the lizard who's markings I was trying to recreate:

I like it, but I agree with the others. It needs something. I like the spots, but I think they don't match the lizard example.  You should be able to scrub down the dew back and get the paint off with out too much trouble.

I just found this. Devin, I think it does it better justice than the original paint job and can see the scale effect you were going for. I like the mountain dew back name though. Great one.

Excellent work on the dewback I really love the paint scheme you've given him.

thanks for all the compliments/criticisms guys.  Both are greatly appreciated.  I think I might get a second dewback soon to do another.

If you were to rid yourself of that dewback i would gladly buy it. I love the paint scheme and it looks exactly like some overgrown Hssiss from korriban in the KOTOR games!! Good job on it. And yeah, my camera does the same thing when it flashes. A dark blue ends up looking extremely light. I now photograph without flash in natural light. Does the customs more justice.

lambon if your interested in one I can paint up a second one in no time... I just need the money for the purchase and then shipping costs.  PM me about it if your interested,

that goes for anyone btw!  PM me if you would like me to do any customs for you and we can work out the details.

hey guys, while I'm writing this, I need your help.  I have an obi-wan's jedi starfighter, the long pointed one, and I have no idea what to do with it.  I want to customize it more than just repainting the color scheme.  anyone got any ideas?  I'm thinking about ading some larger wings and fins onto it and some bigger weopons...

because I like this one the way it is and I'm not getting rid of it.   :P

like I said, if anyone is interested in having me paint them a dewback similar to this one (I'll even do different colored spots or leave them out alltogether) then let me know and we'll work out the deal.
