I do keep some of packaging of the stuff that Iopen, but not all of them.
If I have a boxed vehicle or a MOC fig that matches an opener, once it is opened  it goes in the trash...
I guess it really depends on how cool it is or how easily I got it opened....
But I do keep most of the UPC cards with fig pics from the packaging....

I usually buy a carded one and then the ones to open for display or to customise but like alot of you here my room is very limited now so I mostlybuy to open and usually keep the front of the card but with the new packeging its not possible so it all goes to the trash.

For me it depends, some nice individualized packaging (ie vintage SW or 25th GI Joe) I keep most times.   When the card fronts are standardized and repetitive (The Storm/clone trooper Legacy packages are great examples) I just toss, there is nothing about them that I feel the need to keep.

The current red/orange/black stripe packages are nice but really do nothing for me so I don't keep them.  Same with the GI Joe ROC figures and really most of the modern packages.  I see no need to keep them as they are not near as appealing as what has gone before.

Updates Mon-Fri every week, also reviews and much much more.

i agree some figures look good in packaging and i would probably keep the boxes if they didnt take up soooooo much room lol
lol ya. Most of my closet is full of empty packaging. I have to find a place to store all of it too in a couple years......
Since they do take up so much space I may decide to rip off the plastic tray and only keep the cardbacks for the figures. But thats only a last resort thing for space.

I open all my stuff. I take a razor or scissors and cut as close to the card as possible. Then I cut out all the important parts and toss the rest. I cut out the descriptions of the scene, the figures name tags, upcs, Star Wars logos. Then  I make collages and posters to go behind my figures. I actually learned a neat trick. If  you are careful, you can split the card in two that way you can have what is on the front and back of the card. I decided to do this because  I had 15 totes of nothing but packaging. Had to use that space for more toys.

I keep every box, apart from my first vehicle (obi-wan's starfighter with hyperspace ring) and my 2 action fleet vehicles (At-At walker and X-Wing). I keep the bubble on there aswell, but it's gonna take too much room soon so then i'll be taking the bubble off and save just the cardbacks

I toss all Cardbacks bar any Faux Vintage Cardbacks, as for boxes for vehicles and that I really don't have many vehicles or the ones I have are still boxed up or restored Vintage Vehicles (these didn't come with the boxes).

As for other boxes I have kept most of them and the Items are still in them, see I am a loose collector, but I don't have anywhere to display my collection.

I save it all. Space is getting to be an issue. Although I do have some card backs from 1979-1982! I saved them when I was 8 years old why not save them now at 39!

My kids rooms have half the walls covered with just empty boxes and it is pretty cool to go in and just look at the box art . Some times my kids will re-box the item only to open it again and again  ;D

I have seen card backs alone go for good money. It is true about the vehicle boxes also if you ever ebay and AT-AT the price is way up with box even opened.

However stating all of this do you want to guess how many Star Wars figs or vehicles I have sold from my collection.

I will tell you the answer ZERO!!!  it is a viscious circle we all reside in.
