Pat, Wraith, I get your point, but I don't think it's a piece that's missing.... I've always had it in my head to paint it in desert camoflage. So next weekend I'm going to follow my gut instinct and do a respray.

Also my feeling is that this vehicle isn't really suited for the Star Wars universe...but that's down to the cockpit design. Anyhow, I'm going to go back to the drawing board with this one.

The only consolation is that I think I can do weathered black paintwork now.

Thanks guys for your honesty.

At first glance, I think the engine pods are undersized.  EXCEPT.  Like gwest said, it has the feel of a converted mini-van type vehicle.

As for the cockpit design - you might try ditching the windshield wipers.

Jules I like the repaint but do agree something is sort of missing. These are my thoughts, the wheel wells are a bit distracting and would blend better if other greeblies were added under them or if they could be removed. The windshield wipers, as Doc mentioned are giving it away as a Joe vehicle. The bad news is I know how hard it would be to remove them so maybee a styrene strip over that area after some sanding would work. Lastly the area where the front treads were removed also needs something to cover or add to what is left there. Take a look at Jedi Wolf's Black Sun vehicle as he had some of these same situations to handle with that one converting it into more of a SW vehicle. The camo paint sound awesome even though I don't mind this paint scheme you came up with. I would love to see a second paint ap over this one where this one still shows through a bit. Like they comandeered the ship and gave it a quick paint job to disguise it, then it was treated roughly so needs heavy weathering. I love the weathering you have done and especialy the 3 scars on the right side. So I say well done but I think with a little extra effort you could make this one even better! My honest opinion.

LE, I agree with all points, I guess my shortcomings have shown through on this one , I've got a lot to learn about adding parts and scrstchbuilding.I
I don't have the time to do a full on job with this vehicle,my thought is to remove the canopy altogether and create an open cockpit.

We shall see....

I betcha going with a totally open cockpit will do the trick.  (I have one of these vehicles in my stash, so I'm watching and learning from everyone else on these Joe vehicle customs!)

Jules, that paint job is indicative of the direction that you are currently interested in.................bold weathered markings.
As far as the wheel wells go, furring out the underside of these fenders would take away from that negative space and thicken up the lower part of the body nicely. I kind of like the cockpit glass on there. I like the styrene idea for covering up the wipers.

That is not to say that I wouldnt love to see your take on a desert camo paint scheme.

Thanks guys..I guess I've set the bar very high for myself, and I can see this little vehicle going though some modification in the future...

I really appreciate all of your honesty and advice.

that is exactly right my friend. You have set the bar too high with your other vehicles so now each one you do has to be as good or better. Great spot to be in huh?...

When I think about a band of "Misfit" Jedi crusing around the galaxy causing problems for the Empire and helping those in need...I can't help but think A-TEAM!!! ;D

B.A. Baracus didn't drive no military sissy car!  He drove a van!!! And not just any van, the coolest van in what would become the history of television! ;D

I say keep the speeder as is.  Giant racing stripe and all.  Think of it as an homage to B.A. Baracus. ;D

But, that's just  my opinion...what do I know? ;D

GWest, I thank you!

I've been checking out the vehicle, and in the hand it really does look cool, plus my kids really love playing with it so I guess it is going to stay as is...

I'd never thought about the A'Team similarity, but now you mention it you are right. If I'd have painted a red stripe just like on the A Team van I think people would have 'got it' right away.

I
