Jules,

I've never seen Dune. I remember hearing about it. Anybody know if it was any good?

Jason

HHHHUUUUUUUHHHHHGGGGGGHHHH!!! (very sharp intake of breath)... YOU'VE ..... NEVER .... SEEN .... DUNE!!! PPPHHHHHHHHH!!!! (Deep exhale of breath)

As far as I am concerned there are only a handful of really great sci-fi movies and Dune is one of them, the soundtrack alone is worth seeing the film for...

If you want my list of the best sci-fi films you just have to see then here they are....

1. Star Wars (4, 5 & 6)
2. Blade Runner
3. Dune
4. Alien(s)
5. 2001 a Space Odyssey
6. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
7. Contact
8. Signs
9 Terminator
10. Matrix

After that there are lots of good sci-fi films but none that make you think "WOW that was brilliant" after you've seen them...

Yeah, that's a classic list, Jules, one that will stand the test of time! But honestly, I've never finished watching Dune either  :-X Dune is the one film I returned to the rental store back in the mid 80s, because my buddy and I really didn't like it. We picked the Goonies instead, I think ;) But hey, we were twelve or something, so what did we know, eh?

On a positive note... I must've spent eons playing Dune, the RTS game for PC. Or Dune 2000 it was called, if I recall correctly :D

But I digress, great find on that Dune Scout, Jules! I'm very anxious to find out what you'll make of it!

Jules,

Concerning your list:

1. Star Wars (4, 5 & 6)
2. Blade Runner
3. Dune
4. Alien(s)
5. 2001 a Space Odyssey
6. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
7. Contact
8. Signs
9 Terminator
10. Matrix

I don't think I've ever seen "Contact" either, and I will just have to TOTALLY disagree with you about "Signs!" Signs is one of the few M Knight Shyamalan movies I DON'T like! Right up there with "The Last Air Bender." The Village, Unbreakable, Lady in the Water, Sixth Sense, etc. loved 'em. Signs - oh man that was painful!

Not to change the topic from your custom vehicle, but since you listed Alien(s) have you seen Prometheaus? I thought it was pretty good! I've never thought of a top ten list of favorite sci-fi movies. Off the top of my head I'd have to list (after no. 1 no particular order):

1. Star Wars ANH (It's my favorite, but I think TESB is the best of the entire franchise)
2. Blade Runner
3. Matrix (I prefer "Reloaded" over the other two)
4. Transformers the Movie (1986) I know it's a cartoon, but made an impact as a kid!
5. Priest
6. Total Recall (the Arnold version)
7. Star Trek (JJ Abram's version, totally rewrote the franchise - excellent!)
8. Transformers (Michael Bay, the first one. The second sucked because of the filthy language, and the third sort of made up for it)
9. Robocop
10. Battlestar Galactic (Sci-Fi, ok it's not a movie but series was the best t.v. show I've EVER seen! I loved that series better than Star War!! Colonel Tigh was mine and my wife's favorite).

And by the way (in my gansta thug voice): Ye-ah, I said I liked Battlestar Galactica Sci-fi better than Star Wars. Ye-ah I know it's blasphemy, but what cha'll gonna do 'bout it? Huh?

If someone made some BSG (Sci-Fi) 3-3/4 action figures & toys, I'd be all on them like Gaius Baltar on Caprica Six!!

Wow, that dune toy is a rare find I would think.  I've never even heard of them making any toys.  First I saw of action figures from the movie was on robot chicken! (I assumed at first they custom made the figures for the skit but on closer inspection they were stock toys!)

I would leave it as is Jules and maybe give it an updated paint job.  Do you know if you have all the pieces?  That worm alone is pretty cool!

Dune is one of my favorite sci-fi novel series of all time, I've read every book, every prequel and sequel written by Brian Herbert as well... that being said I never cared too much for the older movie or the made-for-TV mini-series.  They just left out so much of the novels intricate details which made the dune universe so fantastic....

but I degress.  Cool find Jules, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Spuda,

The vehicle arrived the other day and it's sitting in my garage with its undecoat drying out. In answer to your question, yes as far as I'm aware I have all the parts, including the sandworm. I'll be customising it to look like a movie replica, so watch this space.

I just want to take a moment and say Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. And, if you will allow me to share (via my faith and worldview) this is one of the most special times of the year, at least to me. I am truly thankful to God above for His grace, mercy and salvation. He has richly blessed my life. I have the blessing of an amazing wife, beautiful children, and a loving family.  I am also thankful that I live in this great nation. I hope you have a chance to take a moment today and look at your life and reflect on how fortunate you are. I also want to make a statement to the ISYs in general that even though we don't all know each other personally and face-to-face, I am thankful that in our hobby we have a common place to share our creations with one another. Happy Thanksgiving enjoy some turkey!!!

Re: Hangarbay94's Custom Vehicles - New Year Clear Out...
« Reply #789 on: December 27, 2012, 02:52:24 PM »
I've run out of space and I need to clear out the old to make way for the new... I do love my customs but I enjoy the process of making them more than seeing them gather dust. I can't work on any more new vehicles until I clear out the old, so this is a 'heads-up' to anyone who is interested in acquiring some really cool customs, some of which have appeared in my Graphic Fiction work.

I will be selling the following items...

Nar-Shadda Police Cruiser with lights and sound UPDATE - THIS ITEM IS NOW SOLD)
Ace Azzameen's X-Wing Green Four complete with Ace Azzameen Figure
Rancor Squadron's B-Wing - Green Three (UPDATE - THIS ITEM HAS BEEN RESERVED)
Clawbiird Squadron's Y-Ing Blue
Clawbird Squadron's A-Wing Blue
The Dune Rider

I was considering selling my Endor Platform but my eldest son burst into tears at the thought of losing it...

Below are images of the vehicles...
If anyone is interested in buying any of the customs please PM me.
