I definately like where this is headed... man this contest realy deserves a prize for whoever wins this thing... so many people have put so much great work into these pieces!

the camo: awe inspiring

the engines: wicked cool!

I realy like the film cap on the inside better than the outside...   honestly I liked the fans in there, but I know it's a futureistic vehicle so it shouldn't have "fan" blades in the engines!

btw: where did those engine pods come from!?

also... if you can find another one of these hovercraft how much is it and how much would you charge for shipping?  I seriously havn't seen this before at any local wal-mart...!

The pod-pieces were something that the pipe-gang used on one of the pipeline projects I worked on.  The yellow bits look like a really fat marker cap and the black parts - ya got me!  It is partially threaded inside - at the fat end.  NO idea what it was used for.  We were picking them up by the scads when our crew came thru the area, trying to clean up the mess.

I think the hovercraft are $10 - but the local stores don't have them.  I happened to catch one at one of the bigger stores during one of our trips off.  I'll keep my eyes open, tho, as I'm considering converting another one.

Wow, doc, what an update. I like the interior details and am loving the engine refinements. You were right about the camo, close up, its like weathering and camo all wrapped up into one. you are really on track with this one.

Doc I found one!  I just happened to be down in paris tenn. today and found one at their wal-mart! YAY!...  so now I'm thinking about all the things I can make out of this.  I think I'm going to go with a mandoish theme and make it for my camo-styled mando figure I did...  OR... I have been wanting to do another version of my stealth fett so I might make a stealth mando again and make this a stealth fighter... I don't want to do camo on it since yours looks so dang good already!  I will probably add some wings as a weopons platform and modify the engines.  I'm also planning on adding lights and batteries.

Hey Doc, I am loving these pics. Just seeing them now as I have been out for the holiday. You have done an amazing job with this vehicle. I have only seen this rubber cement used a few other times and it is very cool and inspiring. I love the colors you used and as Clint said it looks weathered at the same time because of all the jagged edges and irregular pattern. Nice touch with the grey top on the cockpit to change it up a bit. The engines came out great and fit right in with the look of the vehicle. I thought you had used a sprayer nozzle for that black part. I have a few that look exactly like that. I really love the originality of the paint work as I have seen a few good repaints of this vehicle. My hat is of to you for this one Doc. vadsab

doc... I was a little disapointed to find that the cockpit wasn't clear...  are you going to be doing anything about that?  I think I might dremel out the windshield and put in some clear plastic.  idk yet....

btw, thanks for the idea on using the film canisters! those look great! I'm using those as well, but something different for the back part of the engines.

Thanks, guys!   ;D

Well, I spent yesterday at the paint-rack so as to replicate the camo of the body on the engines.  What a surprise when the paint peeled off down to the base plastic!!  Gaaaah, was I mad!  So, in the end, I peeled pretty much all the paint off the engine assemblies and took them out today for a coating of flat-black.  Yes, it is going to have solid black engines (with some detail paint, of course) mounted on it.  Major disappointment, but hey - it happens.  I have a little bit of detail painting and maybe some minor weathering to do on it.  Might get it done tonight, even.

Spud, I considered cutting out the windscreens, but finally opted to let them alone and paint the glass areas.  I'm considering replacing them on the next one I build, tho!
