Recons' Catalog Project
« on: November 08, 2009, 06:39:27 AM »
Guys,

For years I have been tossing around the attempt at building a comprehensive Christmas wishbook library from 1978-1985 covering the Star Wars offerings. This has pr oven a tough task thus far, I have had some fantastic help From SW forums member AndyR over the years but I need your help.

What I need are either hard copies of the old wish books put out by Sears, JC Penny, Montgomery Wards, and so forth. Just the pages showcasing SW or high quality scans of the full pages.

I will keep compiling what I have been building but it's only 25% complete. This will be a fun way to look back and to chronicle some of the offerings evolutions as some ads showed prototype offerings rather than production ready pieces.

I will eventually post a list of where we are, right now I am adding to a database and will keep you guys posted.

I will see what I can do. I would love to get my hands on some large, high rez images of the Monkey Wards or Sears ESB offerings. I got to circle my wants for my mom and that walker got circled every year, but I never got one. Boy this brings back happy memories as I did get some of the things I circled.

Dang I love that picture.  I do believe that is the exact same page I looked longingly at for hours back in the day.

I asked my mother if she had any since she's a huge packrat about weird things, and I thought for SURE this would be something she'd have kept.  Unfortunately, she did not.  I'm always on the lookout!

Thanks for checking,   These are not the easiest to find since they were not meant to be kept.   Hunting is fun, but it's getting frustrating

My grandparents are pack-rats too...
2 years ago we went to their house and looked at all the models my dad and I put together, Dioramas we had built with war models... even some old crap I built out of broke toys and junk that gave me more fun than lots of other stuff they bought.
They even still had some of the old catalogs from when I was little.... pages all marked up and circling what I wanted...
None of them were in too good shape, marked up and discolored pages and all.
If we get back there any time soon, I will try to remember to take some pics of anything noteworthy...
Or anything at all still there...
