We Come in Peace... and in War!
« on: November 23, 2009, 09:34:43 AM »
Alien species diversity is one of my favorite things about science fiction.

Let's face it, otherworldly beings, aliens, extra terrestrials, xenoexotic lifeforms is the one unviersal difference between a drama or action or comedy story set on Earth in the "real world" and the same exact story set elsewhere off Earth.   In MY opinion, the MORE diverse a location is with the most variety possible, the better.

So what are your favorite species of aliens?   Sure, I'm especially asking about Star Wars but all other sci-fi properties certainly apply too:  Star Trek, Dr. Who, Stargate, DC comics, Marvel comics, X-Files, Ghosts of Mars, EVRYTHING ELSE?

I also love sci fi over normal fiction only because if I wanted to hear how cool new jersey was I wouldn't buy a book about it..  =)  I think sci fi takes a little more story telling to pull off better.

My favorite aliens would have to be... "the aliens" from aliens =)

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

the arakeen or dune sandworm and the "fremen" culture of Frank herbert's Dune saga.

I've always wanted to do a fremen custom figure....  I think the rise of cobra reactive impact armor looks alot like how I pictured the "still-suit" of the freemen...

I also realy like the alien races depicted in the fifth element, a movie which ranks as the number one stand alone sci-fi film in my mind (if you exclude saga films like star wars)

I just finished Dune HD last night, very cool, but I like the USA/Sci Fi version much more.

The Freemen crack me up, as well as the mentats.

Question, how do the yuuzhan vong fight?  The figure I have has a stick and the comic has him fighting jedi and stormtroopers.

My wife says my favorite alien is T'Pol, :)  by the way.

the Yuuzhan Vong are from a neighboring unexplored galaxy, they invaded the known Star Wars galaxy and wreaked havoc EVERYWHERE, and NO species was immune to the devestation.  Their weapons, ships, and armor is all biological and symbiotic to the users/wearers.

They do not exist inside the Force at all so fighting Jedi is basically uphill battle for BOTH fighters, neither understanding their opponent...

And they're unafraid of everything so they always want to fight and live to destroy.

f- me, I mixed the shows up in my head.  I was thinking Enterprise, rad little experimental first NCC1701 that it was but I typed the wrong title.   (P.S.  I'm big fan of Vulcans in general... yup, I'm a proud Trekkie too)
