Cool, but is that the way the floor was laid out back then?

Will you add a real chalkboard, by the way, using chalkboard paint :)

Thanks mate, I had a look at the dvd and the floor boards are on angles and thought to myself way to much work (yeah I can be lazy ;D).

I'll do what I did with my 7" classroom dio (pic below) I painted it german grey and then slightly darkened it with a wash of matt black and then drybrushed it german grey with a little white mixed in.

Wow, that wall and floor panel work is fantastic, just using a pencil? Off to share. Ron, you never cease to amaze.

Thanks heaps Shawn and I find that a pencil works great on certain materials like balsa wood and foam.

Ron you are once again showing that it does not have to be all about action, but from the simplest of scenes  and from what you have shown so far i cant wait to see this finished.  i absolutely love the desk with all the artifacts on it but what really got me was the detail on the chalk board lol Brilliant !!!! Excellent job as always  my friend !!   Art

Cheers mate and the detail on the board was done by lightly drawing the diagram and writing in pencil first and then going over it a few times with matt white paint.

Hi All,

Pic 4 & 5 - The window was made using some clear plastic from a action figure box and the frame work was done by cutting some balsa wood into strips and then gluing them inplace. The latches and hinges are some resins pieces from a 1/35 scale 20ft container which was sent to me by my brother.

When I glued the window inplace and went and had dinner I came back and realized I did a very rookie mistake by not counting the window sections correctly. There is actually 5 sections not 4 but alas couldn't fix it as the glue had dried, I still like it but wish I had paid more attention :(.

Nice! I should have figured you weren't going to change your pace on this one. Look for another front page update soon.

Hi All,

Little more work done.

Pic 6, 7 & 8 - The wall panels have had line vertically done to them I scribed them by using that good ole sharp pencil again. The platform and desk were made from balsa as with the chalk board frames. I used double sided gloss paper for the chalk boards and the section above the middle board is were the pull down screen and cord will be.

Hi All,

Pic 9 - All the wood scetions have been painted with a wash of GW's Mournfang Brown.

Pic 10 - The chalk boards were done using Vallejo's German Field Grey and they were given 4 coats each I decided not to give them a drybrush and try something different which will be in pic 12.

Pic 11 - I did the drawing and writing by getting a led pencil and sharpening it on some medium sandpaper till it was very sharp, Once the pencil was ready I wrote and drew on the board and then went over the pencil with watered down white paint.

Pic 12 - As I mentioned before instead of drybrushing I decided once the drawing and writing had dried completely,  I gave the boards a wash of matt white to simulate the chalky powder that is left behind from the erasers. I was really happy with the way the boards turned out.

Hi All,

Another update.

Pic 13 - Is an overall view of how the classrom is coming along. All the maps in the chalk board are printed off and stuck into place, the rolled up maps are again printed off from teh net or just rolled up printing paper.

Pic 14 - The stool stool and map stand were made by cutting thin strips of balsa and gluing them together, the map as mentioned above was again [rinted off and glued inplace.

Pic 15 - The books on the desk were downsized  and printed from some 1/1 scale book covers designs I found on the net and then glued to some thin balsa wood and then the balsa was painted.

The erasers are again some balsa wood cut to size and and painted and the chalk is some broken off led refills and glued inplace and then painted,  the small pics near the chalk are from the net downsized and printed off and glued into place.

Pic 16 - The window frame and locks have been painted and the skeleton poster was done by taking a pic of thd dvd and using PSP 6  it was lightly darkened and printed off and then cut to length and glued into place.
