Hi All,

I decided to make another 6" diorama but this time add some lighting to it and a eygptian style tomb was the way to go. Once the base was done it was painted and weathered using Vallejo and GW paints and pastel chalks.

RECIPE

1: Indiana Jones - The figure is from an earlier Figma Indy which I repainted, I'm waiting on another one to arrive so I can add him to the base.

2: Base - The base was made from a left over pieces of foam core. Once I got the desired look I used a led pencil and softly drew out the wall mural and once I was happy with that I used a very sharp led pencil and went over the original drawing. I then used my fingers and a pair of tweezers to remove some pieces of foam to simulate corrosion.

The sand is just fine washed river sand and was added once the base was painted and once the sand dried I gave it a wash over different colours of sand. The torches were made from home decorative sticks cut to size then bound togther using model boat ship rope and superglue and the flames were made by using Woodland scenics Water Effects.

The light from the flame is some fake candle light I picked up from the $2 shop and attached them underneath the base with a hole so that the bulb could protrude thru and sit inside the flame.

Oh no, you melted one of those new Figma Indies? Are we related? Sounds like something I would do.

LOL yeah we most likely are and yeah it was the Figma Indy. His head and right arm were totally to far gone to help, on a god note thou I have extra parts and hands for when I get a few more of them.

Hemble,

Do you repaint the entire figure in your customs? I know you seal and putty the joints. If you do, do you prime the entire piece, or just apply the paint straight? Also, what paints do you prefer to use on figs?

Thanks!

Hey BigKev, I do repaint the entire figure and I don't prime the figure/s I just give them a good was with warm soapy water and then rinse off and let them dry. I use Vallejo and Games Workshop paints as I personally find these to be the best especially for adhering and no brush strokes and if you need anything else please don't hesitate to ask.

Ron

I agree.  Vallejo paints are the best, but I use a white plastic primer.

Thanks mate and I wish I could see the Smithsonian the inspiration would be amazing. I have to change my comment on primers, the only time I use primers is on vehicles as they are much larger.

Looks like a good resin who harden fast is'nt it ?
Could be useful to create waterfall ot whatever fallingwater effect, or even ice stalagtite or stalagmite

The best way to describe it is once it dries it is like a rubbery fill to it which then can be stuck to almost any service using some woodland realistic water. And it is actually designed for waterfalls, ice and ice stalaglites and stalagmaites.

I used it on an older dio has a waterfall pics below.

That is amazingly realistic. Great stuff!
I have altered the action figure. Pray I don't alter it further.

Hi All,

I have slowly been building Lance Quazers prize from the Mayan Secret photo novel comp which is Indy's office from TLC. The base is foam core cut to size and glued together.

The window frame shelves, table and chair (not in pics) are made from balsa wood, I used the thin clear plastic from the 6" black series boxe's for the windows and the latch and handles are from some 1/35 scale parts I hade in the bits box.

The some of the artifacts on the shelves are pieces of high density foam cut and designs scribed into them using a sharp pencil, there are pieces from the hasbro Indy line. Some other pieces are from Spry that he sent me when we did a trade and some pieces from a spare 1/6 scale map room I have had for a while.

I'm attempting to make a desk fan and phone from plasticard and find something to use as boilers.
