Ironhide's customs (Update: TCW Phase II Clones)
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:57:48 AM »
Hi All,

First post here. Clonehead invited me on here and suggested that I share some of my custom work. I'll start it off with my most recent. A simple custom Rex. ARF trooper hips and a new style helmet. In the future, this one is getting a soft goods kama with some Jek holsters.

Ironhide, welcome to the shipyards! I too, have been following your work for a while and am glad that you decided to join us.
That Rex looks good, buddy. Make yourself at home here and, if you need anything, just ask.

First off COOL CALLSIGN,

Although I've never had the privilege of seeing your customs elsewhere, hearing Jay (Wraith9) say that you inspired him can only mean one thing...AWESOME CUSTOMS.

Your first post is fantastic, I'm really looking forward to seeing more.

Welcome to the Yards!

Jules

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. Can't believe I overlooked this site for so long.

What would be the appropriate way to post customs? One topic per figure? Or all in one topic?

Well, I have all mine in one thread, as do most of the customizers here, but I don't think it's a rule, per say.

I can't remember exactly but when I got here I think I did it that way because most everyone else was already following that tradition, we just keeping adding to our threads.    Keeps everything concise anyway.

I believe that it has been suggested that you put em all in one topic, otherwise the custom figures board would be harder to navigate. That's how I have been doing it since the beginning of the site. We have separate boards for custom figures, vehicles, and dioramas.
Some members, like Spudafett, will post all in one thread but will alter the title of the thread to draw attention to his latest custom which works pretty good.

Can't wait to see what you post next, Gary.

NICE entry post.  Can't wait to see more.

I've been wanting to do a couple custom animated clones which only ammounted to swapping the parts out with an arf trooper.

Might I ask how you swapped the parts? what parts did you swap?

If I would be doing it I'd probably cut apart the chest and swap everything below the chest ball joint.  Meaning that the top half of the figure would be stock rex and the bottom half would be the arf trooper.  and then I'd paint to match if need be.

It's such a simple fix it realy bugs me that hasbro hasn't started using the arf trooper's parts for ALL animated clones...   ::)

I'll try to put together a pictorial of an ARF hip transplant on a Commander Ponds tonight. No painting required for that one, or Rex if you use the Hasbro helmet.... I did this transplant  on a CW Bly to make a 327th trooper in less than 5 minutes.

That is slick!  I see the ARF trooper's hips come in handy for these shots!
