Vintage 2010 Boba Fett Mail Away
« on: February 12, 2010, 06:52:20 PM »
From Hasbro's press release:

"Additionally fans are also encouraged to collect five of the marked figures in the new vintage lineup to send away for their very own “Rocket Firing” BOBA FETT action figure, identically styled after the 1980 mail-away figure."

I'm pretty stoked about this!

This is good news,  I have a Shaw rocket Fett today but I love the idea of this one as a mail-a-way and will be after 2 atleast.

I'll be getting multiples of this figure too.  I wonder if additional funds will be required besides what I'm assuming are 5 POPs.

Man, the time I must have spent as a kid looking at the concept for this figure on the backs of my vintage cards as a kid.

This is good news. I need to see if I can find a link, let alone a pic of this thing. I guess the official press release didn't have one of those. Still, that is great news. I have always wanted one. Boy I hope they release a Slave One to sit him in!

I hate to be the gloomy gus but I have absolutly no interest in this.  It's neat they did it but for me its a couple of years too late, 2 years ago I would have been all over it, now I am just tired of Boba, I love the figs I have, but don't want anymore.

Updates Mon-Fri every week, also reviews and much much more.

I've seen the pics and they are marvelous...same Kenner sculpt, 5 pts of articulation, even the weapon is spot on retro.

I'm getting a couple of these for sure.

Great marketing idea Hasbro!

I'm downright giddy about this.

It's actually a great marketing ploy on Hasbro's part.  I think it'll really help them dial in on the numbers of the "old school" type collector base.  Heck, this figure is one of the premier holy grails of the vintage line.  Not that there won't be some overlap in collector interest; but I'm doubting too many 8 year kids will be sending off for this figure as soon as they can.

I am all over this one like white on rice,   I love the idea and it would be cool if it shows up in a vintage era type mailer box.

Yeah, now I don't have to come up with $20,000 for a "Kenner" manufactured specimen.  I really dig this.

No, the original Kenner rocket Fetts were never sold or distributed to the public, and the rocket on the production versions was not "launchable" so yours is 99.9999% not a Rocket Fett.

Mike,

What you would need to look at is the rocket pack--specifically the presence of a firing mechanism.  You'll find that it probably ain't there.  Reconsgt knows his stuff.  It's highly unlikely you have this on your old one.
