Help for Endor Dio
« on: March 21, 2010, 06:40:56 PM »
Hello, everyone.  I am going to try to make an Endor dio and I'd like to know any ideas you have.

First, I am going to try to make two, large trees with an open area bellow the canopy, and I was wondering what should I make the trees out of?  I would like for them to be fairly big (say, 6-12 inches wide and 2-3 feet tall).
Also, I am going to try to lay my base down with grass, and I'm not sure what it should be made from.  I was thinking model grass, but I'm not sure if that'll do it justice.
That's about it, but I'll comment again if I need any more help as I go.   I'd appreciate any help I can have, so leave your ideas here, please.
  Sincerely, the Mandalorian Commander. bbfet

You have me stumped on what to make the tree out of.  I'd almost say get you a 6x6 post and run it along a sander in different waves, to give it a non-uniform look.  As for the grass, I definitely would suggest using model train grasses, shrubbery, and/or foliage.

use real tree limbs, I did that with mine,   as for ground cover,   I used a few items, first I laid down a coating of brown paint, let it dry, then I used a combination of mosses from the floral dept at walmart, crunched it up into fine sizes and glues them down, added some top cover and it iwas done.  I did use foam to build up rocks and "hills"

Here is a pic of what I did, though the trees were not 6 inches wide.

Thanks guys.  I don't know about the sander, sounds dangerous, lol.  As for the real trees, that would work really well for a flat stretch of land, but I'm not sure if I could get a 2 feet high, 1 foot wide, clean piece of wood.  Thanks, guys.

Hey, everyone, just thought I'd mention that once I get the base started I'll try to make a WIP topic, so make sure to look for that.   bbfet

Just wanted to say that I got some ideas for the trees from my dad.  I'll try it out and show you all what it looks like, once I get my hands on the right parts. bbfet
