Pat, my figure is running and my computer is about here.  I'll give you some work in progress shots, of course!

It's a Scout Trooper helmet with the lower portion of a Stormtrooper helmet, and blended together with Sculpey modeling clay.  I have to redo the back to get the shape correct, and then begin painting it up.

Guys, here's the low-down on my figure:  it is a clone trooper Captain/Jet trooper.  This info is courtesy of Wookiepedia: "Also, a branch of jet trooper, aerial clone trooper captains participated in many prominent battles, such as Mace Windu's defense of Dantooine."

I will post pics upon my computer's return.

Ok, I've finished my entry, VERY early.  I'm not all that thrilled with him, because I just could NOT get the sculpted head right, and the sculpey kept wanting to crack on me.  However, it does have the overall look I was trying to achieve, so here he is...

Thanks guys!  you know, the more I look at my WIP shots compared to the reference pic, I am liking it more and more.  Now, I'd like to see Clint mold this helmet, a better sculpt done the way only Clint can.  I'd be all in for that!

In the reference shot, the outer shell away from the face kinda reminds me of the airborne trooper helmet.

Good eye Clint. I was thinking the same thing, there seems to be some additional details there.

nice one Pat... i haven't worked with sculpey but with my experience with working with clay i have found that less is better, just by adding small amounts each time and letting it dry some you get to see where the bonding is at it weakest, you will be able to fill in the cracks....... just a thought mate...
good luck to all that enter this will be a good one!!

pat, next time try a self hardening two part clay substitute like apoxi sculpt.  It'll harden up as you work with it and create a hardened plastic when finished.

BTW the less is more montra that's already been stated is definately true while sculpting.  Once hardened it is very easy to add more sculpting compound, but incredibly dificult to remove excess.
