Thanks everyone! Time for another update....

It was time for the high heels to go so I heated and popped her feet off and chose the feet from a bad han solo figure I had laying around "garage sale item, I think" and heated and popped his off as well. I trimmed the post of the han solo feet for length and although the shank of the post was slightly wider in diameter, they popped right into place and are nice and tight while still allowing their factory two points of articulation each. Then, I took those little resin ee spiked foot topper pieces and glued them into place. Some heating was needed to reshape them to the top of the foot.
After that, I carved on her chest area some and dremeled some more room on the inside of the chest piece and glued it into place, only at the chest, that way, her waist, the joint of which is just below the chest, was still allowed to spin back and forth. Now, a joe figure is usually a bit taller than a sw figure and the chest plate should probably be placed closer to her shoulders but I like the height where it is now as it terminates just above the belt which is mocked up where its going in these shots and the clasps of the cape will mask the armor's shortcomings up top which dont look bad anyways.
Then, I trimmed the chest piece off of that cape, just below where the shoulder clasps were and thinned out the inner top area that would ride over the shoulders and down the upper back to allow it to fit more snug and give mrs vizsla room for her hair.

all I gotta do now, other than find a suitable gun for her, Is re-size the neck nub to work with the head and I will be ready to start painting.

I gotta tell you, I am pretty excited about how this is turning out. I may not be able to sleep tonight.
I have you lot to thank for all of your praise and continuing inspiration.

I wish that spudafett was here to see this, he would be so proud of this, my first real joe/sw mix of figures.

Man that looks awesome Clint! This is really turning out good, such a sweet looking female figure. One question, will you be adding some of your pouches to her belt? I think that would add more diversity to her gear and hide the stock look of the belt. I can't wait to see you start painting and wondering what colors you might go with? I agree Spudda would be proud of this one!

Thanks LE! Pouches eh? Come to think of it, I have some little resin pouches that spuda had hooked me up with years ago that just might do the trick.  That would make his missing out on this project even more tragic. i may have to go and look for him on facebook and fet him fired up. Let me go and find those pouches.
I think I had decided on her paint colors about a week ago or more.whenever I started painting on Tamer's gun.
We will get to that.

Clint your right, color me impressed.  I'm also a little jealous of that molded female breast plate!  what i could do with about 5 of those right now...

I'm sorry I haven't been following this from the start, and if you've covered these questions already I'm sorry...

So I'm assuming you casted the chest armor and then dremmeled the chest off of the baroness figure, down flat, so that this new armor could just be permanently affixed?  How does this affect the mid torso joint?  You said it still twists, can she still bend forward and backward?  (there was never much forward to back movement on those joints but it does help in posing sitting positions occasionally.)

You mentioned that the joe figures are taller, and they are mainly because the torsos and legs are longer in relation to the SW figures.  So your molded chest piece (which I am assuming is from a star wars female mando?) looks a little small, but it fits very nicely.  The bottom "stomach" armor should technically be lower, but when you added the belt to the figure it blends it all in together perfectly.

The leg, knee, and arm armor is glued onto the original figure... did you have to do any trimming to get them to fit right?

I honestly would be interested in getting a set of the armor and possibly a few of the breast plates... I don't guess you have any in stock do you?  IDK when I might use them.... lol.

but I definately will be watching this thread.  Very cool.  Very well executed.  I'm glad to see your starting to use some joe parts.

Devon!! Where the heck have you been?
Yes, I cast em all and while I do have some of the other plates in stock, I would have to crank out more of the chest armor. No big deal, just got to do it.
I did make another set to sell on ebay. we will see how that goes. Yes, I did have to shave her chest to make the chest armor fit but I didn't trim anywhere else although her upper leg area could have used a shaving. The armor is shaved from the backside to allow room but sometimes, I would heat the resin pieces till they were soft and shape them to her body which is what I did with those upper leg pieces.
You are right about these figures not having much forward and back waist movement. Until you mentioned it, I didn't know it was there. With the chest piece in place, her waist will tilt a full length of about an 8th of an inch. I dont think the chest plate hinders it that much but when it hits the belt while swinging forward, there is your forward stopping point.

You might be the guy to ask for some reference shots of female mandos as I am having a hard time finding much and really don't know much about mandos other than what I have read in a Karen Travis short story. I wouldn't mind finding some kind of clan marking to put on her somewhere.

Ok, I apologize for going so slow but I think we can pick up some speed now.

I got the vizsla head socket resized for the neck nub by simply filling it with resin and re drilling it. That was the last thing holding me back from starting some paintwork.

Normally on a project like this, the facial painting would intemidate the builder so I decided to get that task out of the way first. That way, once the head was done, I could fly through the painting of the body.
I have started using Vallejo acrylic paint which my hobby lobby is carrying now and I really like it although it wants to wear off fairly easily and needs to be sealed with an acrylic varnish to make it more stout. I started off giving the head a primer coat of white paying attention to the whites of he eyes.

After that, i dotted some blue in there for her corneas and then using some dark german grey, painted some lines over the corneas for her eye lid detail, darkened her mouth and her nostrals, and framed where her face meets her hair.
Her hair will be a lighter color but I figured that when I painted the hair and the flesh that if I could leave a thin line of that dark color that it would add more depth.

Next, i cut in some flesh color, used a medium brown for her eyebrows, and then mixed the brown darker to kind of wash the deeper parts of her hair and the parts of it that would fall into shadow. I also used that color to lightly add some depth to her face wrinkles at the corners of  the mouth, nose, and above her chin which I will fade in with more flesh color.

Next, I cut in some more flesh to clean it up some. I'm not sure if I like the flesh color or not. In person, it looks more orange. I may have to mix in some white and red to the flesh and touch it up a bit. I can tell from these shots that I need to dig around and find my real camera as the phone is starting to reach its limit as far as how close it can focus. This actually looks better in person.
Ehh, its not perfect and could be refined more but I got it mostly done and that was the important part.

I'm always amazed by how much of a figure's expression is cast by the eyes. She has this "I'm gonna kick your butt" look on her face now.

I think that when I get her hair done, the head will look alright. Naturally curious about one of my favorite resin pieces now,  was curious how the chest piece would look on this second hand shop 25th Scarlett figure and low and behold, I Started on a little friend for our first female mando. the scarlett doesnt have quite the articulation as the baroness so we might have to figure something out for those knee plates but when she is done, perhaps she and Mrs Vizsla can go and clear out a bar full of hoodlums somewhere.

Thanks buddy. Here are a couple more shots of the hair painting. Not sure if I like it or not. Should have added a little red to that brown.
I noticed that when I added that matt varnish that it toned down the glossy nature of her hair some.

Looking awesome Clint! Great face painting tutorial also. I agree the skin tone is a bit on the orange side. I too was estatic to see valejho at Hobby Lobby and then was not impressed by the durability of the paint after trying it. I will be sticking to good ol' Model Masters from now on. Scarlet is looking sweet! These 2 are going to get into some trouble, I can tell.

thanks, buddy. After I seal it with the varnish it seems to do ok. I just love those little squeeze bottles.

When I first started putting this blue color on her armor with the grey green as the undergarment, I didnt like it and was going to change it. but as I started to weather and detail the blue, it sort of grew on me. I had planned on painting some kind of clan symbol on her armor somewhere but I am in a hurry to finish this one up so I may just choose one of Jay's Warhammer decals to adorn her with. I have started painting on her belt but havent attached any extra pouches. I found em, I just need to choose and attach.
