I need an intervention...tonight I splurged for vintage Brown Hair Farmboy Luke AND vintage POTF Poncho Luke w/Coin. Just too awesome to pass up. I'm already ahead of schedule for this year!

Oh, I snagged the Barada POTF coin on Sunday too, so I can officially scratch him off The List.

I'm way over budget this month, but that is largely a byproduct of my frustration over Hasbro not putting any new TCW stuff out this year so far. Wave 11, and hurry up about it.

Good score last night...I snagged the cardboard backdrop for the Creature Cantina playset, to complete the base I already had. Only $10 too, can't beat that.

Down to 30 items on The List now!

Yeah, obsessed might be a better word.  ;D  This is really the year I want to crush the OCD by completing a lot of the various stuff I am trying to nail down (toys, comics, DVD's, etc).  I finally feel as though I'm making some real progress, but I had a LOT of catch up work to do with the vintage stuff. I have learned a lot along the way. but I'm ready to be done with it.

I got POTF Poncho Luke and Brown Hair Farmboy Luke in the mail today. I dig the Poncho figure - ugly sculpt but looks minty. But I really don't care for Brown Hair Luke.

The head color does not match the skin tone of the neck and hands at all. I mean, it's glaringly obvious. It's definitely the right body, and the head is accurate, but they just don't seem to match. Not sure what I want to do about this. It smells of fakery or some kind of cheap knockoff at best. Boo.

Date stamp is 1977...will try to post pics but don't hold your breath. I'm pretty slack as far as that stuff goes.

Whew, i got a little carried away again this weekend and really overspent. However, to show for it, I now own:

POTF Han Solo w/Carbonite Block (this one has been evading me for awhile...I got the coin months ago)

POTF Warok w/Coin (already had the coin so now I have an extra to put up for sale)

Variant Snowtrooper with "Univisor" (not actually ON my variant Want List, but I think this is a worthy addition as it isn't just a weak paint apps variation)

Not quite sure how I'm going to pay for those first two yet, but I will figure something out.  ;D

Thanks for the date stamp info, McMetal.  I guess it makes sense; but I had wondered if it might be different from that of the initial release.  Changing the mold just to alter a date would be way more trouble than it's worth.  Back when I bought these figures as toys to be played with, I don't think I ever received a figure that wasn't produced around the time it was conceived--i.e. I can't recall getting say a farmboy luke on a ROTJ card--thus my curiosity.

Keep in mind that not only the date is important with many variants, it's where it was made, there were many mold changes from various figures. As there were unknown numbers for each plant and scale up process, Even the Bespin Luke has variants with teh belt and lightsaber attachement, add it paint aps and techniques and there are a ton of variations.
,
China, Taiwan, Ledy, to name a few some had no COO new varients pop up yearly. It never ends :)

There is an attached and non attached variant to the saber details on the figure itself, in addition to the hair color and saber versions,

Yeah, variant collecting is a VERY slippery slope. Once you start down that path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Taiwan is an interesting case. I just got a great batch of vintage Admiral Ackbar variants - 4 total, each with different paint apps, all from Taiwan, all with the same date stamp.

I also got my replacement cardboard backdrop for the Cantina playset...thing looks sharp!

No new vintage purchases on the horizon...too much new TCW swag about to hit the shelves.
