well I tried to paint the necronomicon and the paint made the cover soggy and the hot glue face came off, so I'll find a new book and a new method.

i'll probably get another book soon, I can't really think of any other methods besides clay which would make it too heavy. any ideas?

New projects are all about trial and error. You'd be lucky to get it right the first time. But I guess that's what makes these kind of projects so fun

I think I actually have one in gray - iirc, it's a BBI or Ultimate Soldier figure.  Not sure where it is stashed - I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Found it last night - the line is "The Ultimate Soldier" by 21st Century Toys.  He's slightly beefier than a standard SW fig.  I'll shoot pics of him later today when I get out to the shop.
