yeah we had rememberance day here ,the whole country just stops at 11 a.m(people stand in the street and shops with their heads bowed ,stores turn their lights off and cease trading for 2 minutes) . to observe the 2 minutes silence,wreaths are laid at town war memorials(and almost every town has one) ,all british forces in the world(except those in combat operations ) wherever they are observe the silence ,many people wear the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance ,there will also be a service of rememberance at the Cenotaph in London on sunday(Known as rememberance sunday) and there will be another silence held . but the first silence is always held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (the official end of the 1st World War ,"The Great War").

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

my great grandfather was killed on day one of the battle of the Some with 60,000 of his comrades in arms ,mown down like grass by German machine gunners .
my grandfather faced the Japs in Burma with the famous "Chindits" ,my step grandfather was a Royal Marine Commando and survived the disasterous raid at Dieppe . and my Dads father (who was in a reserved occupation in WW2 ,he was a Master Builder) served his King and Country in the Home Guard ,during the dark days when we were threatened with the German Invasion (we now have his release papers,documents and letter of thanks signed by King George himself).and we have just found out that my Great Great Grandmother was a nurse during the 1st world war and at one point was stationed in france(we now have her papers including her certificate of acceptance into the Royal College of Nursing ..dated 1882.
