1:72nd Spitfire for Remembrance Day...
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:11:40 AM »
Hi folks,

It was Remembrance weekend where I live last week, and so dusted off an old 1:72'd Airfix Spitfire that had been lying around for ages and made it. This was probably the first model kit I ever made, I remember getting one when I was about 7 years old. Airfix still make the same kit in the same box...

Not a Star Wars piece I know, but appropriate...

And here is the little blighter in the flesh...

Tally Ho ! Chocks away ! Bandits at 12 o'clock !

the SuperMarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane   were a deadly pairing especially when flown by the determined pilots of 11 Group under the command of Air Vice Marshal Sir Keith Park ..and  that combined with a nation who will bow to no one ,gave the Germans  a major headache
Commander of the LuftWaffe Herrman Goring  once asked one of his frontline colonel's what he would need to get air superiority over the channel  ....he famously replied  ....give me a squadron of  spitfires!....nuff said!

Great model HB, and nice history lesson Jay! You guys are two of my favorites. The P-51 Mustang was a good one too.  xwing

great job, HB! on both the model kit and the image. I love the paint job and the action scene along with the incorporated logo.
Thanks to Pat for putting it on the front page, well deserved.
