If you post a competition (I'm not saying I am though, at least probably not), do you have to offer something for the winner or only if you choose to?

Well we are always open to new ideas for competitions, but as we deal with all of the parameters from contest particulars to voting please approach one of our friendly mods or admins about your idea. If it sounds feasable you could see your contest in the next go round. Our contest coordinators are Luke Sprywalker and Clonehead. Just run your idea past them.

If we like it we would come up with a prize. Trust me, there are things when you try to run a contest that are sometimes nerve wracking and I would spare you from that stress. Just contact Sprywalker or Clonehead and they will see if its feasable.

Why is it that whenever I open the chatroom it doesn't show any text at all? It doesn't even let me type in the chatroom.

do you ever select a font other then the chats default?
if so, set it back to the chats default font of Arial and see if that fixes it..

Thanks Spooky, that is indeed one good tip. Our chatroom is an smf add on called flashchat that works synonomously with the forum software. I will admit it has its limitations. I think there may be a newer version of this and if I can make sure we don't all have to reregister then I may try to figure it out.

Still, we do have a chat that works for the most part even though it has a few bugs. I have actually been in it for a few times last week. It is nice to see it being used.

yes, there is a new version available from what Mute said and according to him it will fix a lot of the issues we have now. But, it is nice to have a place to gather....

oh, and my answer to that question was based on me having that same issue and found out it was changing the default font causing it.....

LOL. I am sitting here tearing my hair out wondering where all of my beautiful news stories went. We are working on it.

is there anyway to add a "go to first new post" button on the threads?  You know, a button you can click on to take you to the first post that was made after you visited last so we dont have to go to the last post in the thread and hunt in reverse?

Posts get missed like that and sometimes things dont get answered especially when the page flips and no one goes to the previous page to see a post they missed.

Hope that makes sense.

For me the handiest thing I found for helping me with this was under my profile and preferences making sure I hit, under the look and layout section, the tab that says show most recent posts at the top. Hands down it makes the smf forum system that we are using so much easier for me.

Not that I know of Sergio. We tried at one time integrating a php homepage instead of the front page we have now, but at a minimum it was such a pain and so user unfriendly we opted for what we have now. Sometimes I have seen folks just use the smf forums as their front page, but as the forums is mainly text as far as a toc a front page with graphics and links is usually considered a little more eye pleasing.

We have also tried different forums and software and front page extensions and this configuration has been the one that has been the most consistent and easy to use so far. As always we wish there were a few more things we could do, but its technology and doesn't always work the way we want it too. I will look to see if in the css style page there is some type of html code for the whose on the forums Sergio. However, even if we did try to integrate it it would probably still stay at the bottom of the page and mean scrolling down a good bit to see it so perhaps the click into the forums would be quicker anyhow.

Are you asking about something on the front page of the site that lets you know who's in the forums?
