Toys are not us (toyrus)
« on: December 18, 2010, 11:11:13 AM »
I feel there needs to be a boycott at Toysrus raising prices of figure at this time during the economy. I have made my last purchases there yesterday for the 2 for $9.99 sale on figures. But see them raise prices and say will take off 20% off the price will bring it down to the sale price at $6.00 Wal-mart or Target. It's all up to you guys unless they have a sale that can't be beat I'm not buying anymore stuff at TRU's. For a long while until they change there attitude about Star Wars and the Christmas Holiday.  I'm sorry, but what do you guys think

I agree, they are trying to take advantage of Christmas.

I do agree its all bs.

I have had a similar situation with them dealing with the buy one get one fifty percent off video games. As I don't live near toysrus I was trying to get the force unleashed video game, but when they were having the sale bogo half off they didn't have it in stock. Then they took the sale off for a few days and it went back to in stock. A few days later they did the bogo again and it went back out of stock. I think they are full of it and don't really try to give you a deal. I think  unless its in black and white and right in front of you I wouldn't believe em.

TRU relies on the fact that most people simply see them as the place to buy toys.  Most non-collector types that are buying figures as a gifts have no idea that Walmart and Target sell these things a lot cheaper.  Gift givers that might have noticed the $3 difference will still buy from TRU because, with a few figure purchases a year, and the convenience of (what is believed to be) one stop toy shopping, it seems to outweigh the cost.

But yeah, I rarely buy Star Wars stuff at TRU anymore.  I have to think this time of the year is the only thing that justifies them to carry the Star Wars line anymore.

I seen that the AT-AT is still $109.00 and Walmart and Target are at $75.00. I feel that Hasbro needs to not let Toy stores take advantage of people and the economy. If they can't sell they will clearence the items thats were they are week it need to go out to the public and it's not just Star Wars it's everything bikes, barbie and other toys. I have girls that like that kind of stuff and usually they raise thing $2.00 or more than the Walmart and Target. I also see Kmart do this also $8.50 for the Clone Wars figures it's bad.

I have only gone to TRU 4 times in my collecting career, 2 of witch they had nothing, once the had about 100 single carded figures each for $5.00, once they had a big star wars section in the front and a whole nother isle. It is just too far away for a 50% chance they might have something good. And I can walk to target any day.

They closed the only TRU closer to me than an hour and a half's drive.  I haven't been to a TRU since late July, and even then it was a special trip of almost two hours to get to it.  There's always ebay!  ;D

Just came from TRU and the sale is over now figures are $8.45 and $10.45. The Boba fett battle pack with the ships and 4 figures are $109.99. I even looked at the ZHU ZHU pets for my girls and they are $10.00 and the habittrails for them are like $10.00 to $15.00 more than Target and Wal-mart. Why is Hasbro using these guys and giving them exclusives is beyond me. I'm done I think this last few waves of Clone Wars figures and Legends are the end of my collecting for me and the boys. I'm strickly going to make dios for them and that will be my Star Wars. Because I have so many pics on stuff I could build for the boys Yoda's Meditation room the bid  ship I need to finish. Death star Hangarbay the echo base diorama with hangerbay and the sleeping quarter for the Clones. And maybe a few more if I could get more room in the Garage.

I went in one yesterday and saw the vintage figures at ten dollars a figure. It is gonna have to be a good exclusive to get me back in those doors. The pegs were ridiculous too. There wasn't a decent figure on the pegs and plenty of room to put out more with tons of boxes on top of the shelves. I didn't even bother asking anyone to get anything down. I just got in my truck and came home.

I will chime in on this.

No disrespect but my figures in Canada cost more.
$7.92 + 15% tax for my SW figures
GI JOE and other figures are $9.99 + 15% tax.

These are the price I need to put up with and with ebay except for Tunghori and WS_TOYs, I have to pay more b/c of the added shipping charges.

My stores are not regular in bringing in new stock so I am screwed.

Every store has been having the same problems, not just TRU.  I'm not defending them, because they tick me off too, but hopefully Hasbro starts listening to collectors and realize that they are having distribution problems and regardless of what they say they don't really know what kids like or they wouldn't be sending out the same pegwarmers everywhere.  All the stores around here are full of Clone troopers and Sandtroopers.  If they want people to army build(my only guess as why all the Clones/Stormtroopers),  then they should drop the price to $5.  I remember when figures were $5 for awhile a few years back it allowed me to build up my Clone Army.  But who can afford to do that when Vintage stuff at TRU is $9 to $10?
