Topic: New Republic and Imperial Rank Devices

I have started this poll to assess the interest in creating posters that identify the rank devices that are used within the Imperial Navy and Army, as well as the New Republic Navy and Army. There has been a lot of speculation and controversy on the identifying ranking system used within the Star Wars Universe and my goal is to create rank devices that could fit into the universe, based upon canon and non-canon sources.

nice idea ! my vote go's to imperial officers , as usual i do have thoughts veering to the light side of the force ( new republic panzys ) hope no one took offence , just my imperial brutallity

Thanks guys for the taking the time to vote in this poll, eventually, all of the posters will get done, I just wanted to know on which one to start off with. I guess from the votes so far, it's going to be the imperial officers.

Just a quick update for everyone, work has now started on the poster for the Imperial Navy Officer's Rank Devices poster. I am going to be doing this in hi-res suitable for printing in 16"x20" following the Officers Devices I will be doing the Imperial Navy Enlisted Rank Devices, followed by the Imperial Army Officer and Enlisted Rank Devices.

UPDATE:

I have just completed the backround image for the poster and I am now in the process of creating the rank devices. I plan on creating 10 of them, to include  O-1 Ensign, O-2 Lieutenant (Junior Grade), O-3 Lieutenant, O-4 Lieutenant Commander, O-5 Commander, O-6 Captain, O-7 Commodore, O-8 Rear Admiral, O-9 Admiral and O-10 Grand Admiral.

I'm still on the fence about including the ranks of Moff and Grand Moff, since they seem to me to be politically appointed ranks, since it has been established that Moffs are in charge of systems sectors and Grand Moffs are charged with Priority Sectors. Also these appointments were generally created to fill the vacancy left open when Emperor Palpatine dissolved the Galactic Senate. As such, they would really have nothing to do with the "rank and fold" structure of the Navy.

Opinions and comments are more than welcome on this issue. Please let me know what you think.

sounds like a great piece of reference is coming together!!

I would create all 12 including the moffs but with some lines telling the political back story. To me it would be nice to see all ranks and understand the position of the moffs within the military system.
