Just went over and checked him out. Lookin' good! When you paint him let me know. I have a lot of trouble painting heads. I'm trying to pick-up some techniques.

Got a few updates tonight.

This first one is my version of how Lando may have come  to acquire the Millenium Falcon.

I've done Humphrey Bogart here as  Captain Dobbs, the owner of the Millenium Falcon. His character is a nod to Captain Charlie in "The African Queen", the name Dobbs is his character in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and the Millenium Falcon is his African Queen. In the movie of the same name the African Queen was a hunk a junk little boat who's boiler had to be kicked sometimes to get it to work right but she always came through in a pinch. If some of haven't seen the film give it a shot and think about Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon.

Also  "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" is a must see! Especially for you guys who like the western "feel". It's not a western but a very good movie. Bogart plays Dobbs, the main character, who eventually by the end of the movie is the bad guy and meets a surprising end with a machete. Cool movie!

Here Capt. Dobbs has been scanning bars around the spaceport looking for a few hands to make a "run" with him over Imperial lines to deliver supplies. This is where he meets a young Lando Calrissian and hires him as one of the hands. This is also where Lando's relationship with the Falcon begins and his good friendship with Capt. Dobbs.

THE MILLENIUM FALCON

This next one is a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor who passed away this past week. Last couple of weeks past Me a my 5yr old daughter watched "Little Women" and "National Velvet". My daughter loved them. Great for little girls!

I thought she would make a great Queen, so I've made her Queen Veletta of Mandalore. It took me quite a while to fabricate a realistic style Mando Royal Guard. Check em' out in the background.

THE QUEEN OF MANDALORE

One Marvel cover. This one is #7, "NEW PLANETS, NEW PERILS!". In this one Han and Chewie leave Luke, Leia and the Rebellion behind to pay off their debt with Jabba the Hutt. On the way they have a run in with infamous Pirate, Crimson Jack.

PIRATES!

Very nice!

Your use of the Dark Horse comic template has inspired me to make a series of similar covers (albeit minus some of the nice features like the barcode, logo, etc) for my graphic fiction series Tales from the Clone Wars.

Thank you much Kualan.

I'll keep an eye open for the series.

I'm posting a closer look at the Mandalorian Royal Guard since it's hard to see the ones on the comic cover.

Along side of my realistic one is the "Clone Wars" version and the very picture I used to create mine.

Sinister, I was working on my "Clone with No Name" custom fig this weekend after watching For a Fistful of Dollars and, lo and behold, I logged on and saw your awesome comic cover of A Few Credits More: serendipity!  I love the spaghetti western and your work really brings that flair to the SW universe.

Awesome, awesome job on the covers...and your new banner!  That dude is freaky-looking: where'd you come across him?

Thanks JediMerc.

I'd like to see that "Clone with no name" custom when you're done. Let me know if you post it.

Spaghetti Westerns are frigin' cool! Watched "Once Upon A Time In The West" this week, that picture was great! Henry Fonda pulled a memorable villain off and Charles Bronsan is coool and dangerous! Always one of my favorites.

Thanks on the banner. That face is a blown up Darth Vile in my classic monsters run. Frightening isn't he.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great new updates, Sinister!  That Bogart/Lando concoction piques my interest & great job on the tribute to Elizabeth Taylor.  As awesome as I've come to expect!

I haven't seen "Once Upon a Time..." yet; I'll have to grab a copy and check it out in the near future.

I posted my "Clone with No Name" on my thread in the Custom Figs forum last week.  I've added a Clone Sniper and Starkiller WIP since then, so he's been pushed down the thread a bit.  (I thought about making it easy and posting him here, but I don't want to hijack your thread...)

Yeah, lovin' that creature in your banner; freaks me out just looking at him!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

DS,

I love your comic book covers, each one looks like it could be a classic Star Wars yarn... The whole idea of placing film characters into the artworks is pure genius!

Checked out your thread, nice work!

Man! If you like Spaghetti Westerns you gotta get "Once Upon A Time...". It's the same world as the "Dollars" series. All done by Sergio Leone. Also from Sergio, and to me another must see with Henry Fonda, "My Name Is Nobody".  Get those movies Merc, you'd like them!

I'd like to try a realistic version of these guys in plastic. He'd also look good dressed down as a Bounty Hunter.

Thanks man.

I feel like these actors give the characters a familiarity where the viewer kind of feels like he knows them. Even though a lot of people don't watch classic movies like I do, through culture they kind of know the personality and the face. These old actors lend themselves so well to Star Wars. It's class! They're classy and so is Star Wars. Plus a lot of Star Wars was pulled from those classic films.

"The Good The Bad And The Ugly" is one of my favorites, but I wont be doing it. I did Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef in "Dollars" because I wanted to use Eli Wallach in another cover. Eli is the "Ugly" of coarse. He's great! If you happen to catch the Academy Awards this year Eli won a life time achievement award. He was the little old man with the cane! He's so great! He actually did a lot of films. He's 84 and still sharp as a tack!

Man! You don't think for a second I'd leave out Gary Cooper, Chuck Bronson or Steve freakin' McQueen! Marlon... we'll see. I have a hard time watching him believe it or not. I got a place in there for quite a few more too. You can't forget the bad guys too. Gangsters come to mind like James Cagney and Edward G Robinson. More Dark Lords too.
