Ok, Spectre you are forgiven!
Now onto business...I absolutely love the "Ugly" with the Joe Skyhawk cockpit, please can we have the secret to it's creation?
Thanks for forgiving me
The Ugly w/ the Skyhawk cockpit is primarily made from a ton of old Ertl Star Wars kits from the 80s (DV TIE for the body and wing panels, 2 B-Wings for the gun bases and cuttings from the A-Wing and X-Wing kits) with a vintage Joe Skyhawk fuselage and canopy cover (w/handlaid action figure bubble trimmings for the "glass") inserted through the windshield opening on the DV TIE. The truncated end of the fuselage is held in place with lightweight silicate caulk (to bond it to the inside of the styrene DV TIE) and contour putty to make everything match up, the rest is just surface detailing trimmed from a bunch of old models and G.I. Joe toys.
I created it simply as an excuse to use the Skyhawk body I got in a lot (lot contained over 300 ARAH Joes, a complete Terrordrome, almost every pre-1991 vehicle except for the Flagg, and several thousand accessories all purchased for $25 from a guy that came into my friend's comic shop looking to get rid of his kid's stuff when he went away to college
) as it looked sufficently spaceworthy once the glass was installed. The rest of the ship came about as I fiddled with different shapes (mostly looking at the connection point where the body of the starfighter would link up with the back of the cockpit of the Skyhawk). I, to this day, have still not painted the front replacement landing gear you see in the pics and I built that ship in 2002
