Thanks, guys.  I'll be posting pics of Reptile and Cyber-Smoke shortly.  I have Mileena in WIP stage, and a Jedi Raiden also in the works.  If I can snag a couple more McQuarrie Concept Boba figs with the alternate head sI'll make a Cyrax and Sector.

I can't wait to see your Raiden jedi, the god of thunder with a lightsaber, great idea DO :)..........these awesome MK pieces really inspired me to have a go at my all-time fave character, retro style Raiden with a hint of Christopher Lambert in him.

Re: Darth Optimus' Customs 10/25 MANDO KOMBAT! REPTILE!
« Reply #801 on: October 25, 2012, 05:33:49 PM »
Thanks, everyone.  These are easily some of my favorite Mandos (of my own design)...and I've done a lot.  I don't think I've ever seen anyone cross MK and SW in this manner.

BONUS CHARACTER: REPTILE!
The Mandalorian known simply as Reptile is an enigma.  Little is known of his origins, or true identity.  All that is known is that he's signed a long-term contract to hunt exculsively for Shang T'Sung, Vigo of a Black Sun offshoot known as Outworld.  He is a hunter of much renown and his name is spoken in hushed tones.  Apparently he is a shapeshifter of some sort.  He wears the appearance of a human most of the time, with only his clawed hands betraying his alien origin.  He is known to remove his bucket and balaclava during a particularly brutal fight and shift into what may be a more natural form.  It is reptillian in nature, similar to a Trandoshan in most respects.  In battle he wields a four-bladed mace and a pair of matched blasters.  It is rumored that if near defeat, he will release a acidic venom from his mouth as a last resort defense.  This has yet to be confirmed.

Fairly happy with how he came out.  I had to use an original vintage Bossk for the head.  The hands are from that Nikto Jedi, the body is a Jango and the human head is the alternate head from a Blanx Alpha.  I'd like to update to a newer Bossk sculpt or even that other Trando.  If I had one with an open mouth, I could try to create a "acid spray" special effect.  Of the four Mando Kombat figs, Reptile is the only one without some sorta special effect accessory.

Again excellent, the vintage Bossk head and the  hands  worked quite well for reptile .  ( just a suggestion if you have it or can find it  you should try a herchek kal fas head, the reptile in the cantina scene if you want to update reptile that might be a good choice to use )     I'M psyched to see the rest of the gang  your working on  all the best.... art

Hey, guys.  My wife and I are facing a very desperate situation.  I've had to sell the majority of my toy collection, excluding my customs (for now).  Here is a link to some of what is left.  Have a look, maybe you'll see something you need.  Thanks.

loving the reptile fig,all of them in fact...........if you got a spare mastiff maybe the moving jaw could be cut in and blended somehow to a bossk head and done that way?

will be interesting to see how you recreate an acid spray effect, got me stumped at the moment. keep up the good work DO,love it :)

Re: Darth Optimus' Customs 10/31 MANDO KOMBAT! CYBER SMOKE!
« Reply #809 on: October 31, 2012, 05:11:33 PM »
Here is the latest (and last...for a while) member of my Mortal Kombat inspired Mandalorians - Cyber Smoke!

PLAYER TWO - CYBER SMOKE!  FIGHT!

A member of the Lin Kuei clan of Mandalorians that produced both warriors known as Sub-Zero, Tomas Vrbada was a mighty warrior in his own right.  Friends with the younger of the two, Tomas was granted the codename "Smoke" following a successful Rite of Passage his clan required of all members reaching the age of thirteen.  Smoke was present when the Mando known as Scorpion killed the older Sub-Zero.  Smoke attempted to avenge his clanmate, but was hopelessly outmatched by the evil warrior.  Scorpion left his battered foe at the bottom of a chasm, believing him to be dead.  Smoke survived for the three days it took a scouting droid to locate his body by accident.  Notifying his clan on Mandalore of the find, the younger brother Kuai Liang arrived to collect the armor of his fallen brother Bi-Han and what remains of his friend Tomas.  Tomas is rushed to the nearest medical facility, and the clan authorizes his body to be rebuilt with cybernetics.  What little organic remnants remain are forever locked insided a beskar body.  Tomas, now called Cyber Smoke, vows revenge on Scorpion with his friend Kuai assuming Bi-Han's armor and codename of Sub-Zero along side him.  The two travel the galaxy, seeking the one man who destroyed both of their lives.  They will not be whole until Scorpion is defeated in Mando combat.  Cyber Smoke's preferred weapons are a concussion greande launcher and the specialized gauntlet that spews a smoke mist that dissolves untreated beskar on his left arm.  He also keeps a blaster pistol on his hip as a back-up weapon.

"Special Effect" smoke cloud.  Lame, but it was the best I could think of at the time.  I may go back and revisit it sometime.  It's a length of wire plugged into the gauntlet port with pulled cotton swab glued on.

This was a McQuarrie Concept Boba Fett with the alternate head.  Dreadlock cables came from a variety of sources.  Kinda hard to tell from the cruddy pics, Cyber Smoke has a multi-colored "smokey" paintjob I'm fairly proud of.  If I were to aquire more of this base fig I'd make Cyrax and Sector (complete with chest-launched projectile "special effects").  I have one of the bodies, need one more and two of the alternate heads.  Thanks for tuning in!
