Hey, Yarders! Been away far too long. Took a promotion a while back and the hours are way longer than my old position. Anyhow, on to the toys!
First in the queue are a trio of ninja inspired by the film "The Warrior's Way". I've shown these guys as WIPs before, but here are the final pieces. If you haven't seen "The Warrior's Way", you are missing out. It is on Instant via Netflix, for those who use that.
The Sad Flutes Clan. The name is taken from the whistling sound that comes from the severed jugular vein of a fallen foe.
The recipe:
Hat is a cast from Tofu Jesse
Head and sword from a DG exclusive Storm Shadow
Hands from a Blanx Alpha
Body is from a super-articulated Kit Fisto
The leader (in the middle) sports a cape cut from eyeglass cleaning cloth and the two subordinate's capes are from SW Imperial Knights.
All three feature flat black/gloss black paint work.
Next up is a simple repaint of a "Redakai" fig I got at Dollar General for $3. It was originally a "Warnet", done in orange and green, with no details. Totally based in flat black, added some simple scars, and battle damage and repainted in gunmetal and yellow. This fig can go in either my Star Wars universe, or my Mortal Kombat universe and is a gladiator.
Ladies and Gentlebeings! Introducing 5-time Heavy Weight Champion of the Outer Rim: Rumblebee!
"If ya smeeeeellllllllll....what the RumbleBee is cookin'!"
The hardest part was the veins on the wings. I don't do so well with tiny, thin lines...but it works. Axes from "Knights of Tir-na-Nog", a line of medieval Power Rangerish figs from the late '90s.
This is Shadow Walker, Storm Shadow's top apprentice. Trained in the traditional Arishikage style, Shadow Walker eschews modern firearms, relying on a pair of teko-kagi (bear claws), a kitana/wakizashi sword set and shuriken. Rumor has it that should Storm Shadow fall in battle, Shadow Walker will assume his codename and place as the clan's chunin.
Always two there are...a Master and an Apprentice:
This fig used:
Body from Avenger's Hawkeye (modern rig)
Belt from a 25th anniversary Storm Shadow
Backpack, bear claws and swords from the Ninja Assault RET 3-pack.
Hat is a cast from Tofu Jesse.
Next! Here is a mock-up of the WB's "Arrow". I've never seen the show, but I dig the look of the character...plus I need to do SOMETHING with all the DG SS bows I have accumulated.
Lastly, (for now) we have a WIP of Marvel's Agent Venom done as a mercenary under pay as a Cobra Operative.
Whew...that was a lot to get out! I have more to post, but I will wait until these can be digested. As always, thanks for tuning in!
