Hey, Yarders!  Time for another update.  Strap in and hold on tight, yer in fer some chop!

First up is a squad of Rebel SpecOps troopers, the Riot Squad.  These Bith specialize in urban recon/saboteur missions.  Each is equipped with a Mandalorian-made jetpack (the best in the 'verse) and are an essential part of the Rebel Alliance.  This particular squad is comprised of three Bith.

Riot Squad, Bith JetJumpers:

Waw Quapal, squad leader and gunfighter:

Hiri Trutol, demolitions:

Ence Ome'o, heavy gunner:

Riot Squad was made using:
Heads: POTF2 Cantina Band Members
Bodies: GI Joe MARS Troopers (Waw has Jango Fett lower arms and feet)
Waw's armor, all weapons and greeblies from the parts bin.

Modern-era "Gun Ninja" WIP:

Thanks for tuning in!

Wow, I really like those Bith Troopers. I really enjoyed reading about the Bith Sith in a novel I just read called Darth Plaeguis. Back to the front and fb pages.

Excellent work, i love the camo color scheme.

Re: 07/16 "The Crow" - Eric Draven version
« Reply #965 on: July 16, 2013, 10:37:15 AM »
Thanks, guys!

Here are the final pics of the "Crow" fig I debuted as WIP a while back.  "The Crow" is absolutely one of my favorite films of all time.  Released in 1994 and directed by Alex Proyas, it is based on a graphic novel of the same title by James O'Barr.  O'Barr's graphic novel (which he wrote and illustrated) came about after the unexpected death of his fiance.  The comic and the movie both resonate deeply with me, even though I've never known such a loss.  There were several follow-up movies, comics and novels (each portraying a different "Crow").  While the movies never were as good as the original (and that's putting it nicely), the comics and novels were surprisingly good.  This figure represents the Eric Draven Crow we see in the first film, along with the mystical crow that assists him in his quest for revenge.  I have several other (original) Crow-powered characters in the works.  I know the pics are cruddy, (a combination of using an iPhone and playing with "lighting effects" but there you go.  As an added bonus, you should totally open this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izUSpFYq5N8 in another window to listen to as you peruse the pics.  It's "Burn" by the Cure, which stands as Eric's theme during his transformation into The Crow.

Eric and the crow:

Gear: Tin-Tin's jacket and knife, shotgun taken from Gideon's Pawn and Shelly's engagement ring on a cord around his neck:

With the flaming crow symbol:

Nightclub assault scene weaponry (twin uzis and a katana):

Artsy pic using a free filter app:

The recipe:
Hair: Rex "The Doctor" Lewis from GI Joe, ROC
Head: Blanx Alpha (I purposely chose not to paint in the eyes, hoping the darkened areas would play as shadows, leaving a more "haunted" look...I may reconsider)
Torso: Dollar General Duke
Arms: Rex "The Doctor" Lewis from GI Joe, ROC
Hands: Blanx Alpha
Upper legs: Rex "The Doctor" Lewis from GI Joe, ROC
Lower legs: Dollar General Duke
Trenchcoat: MU Nick Fury (IM2 4-pack exclusive)
Crow: Redwing from MU Falcon
Flight stand: clear post heated and shaped, plugs into Eric's back
Weapons: assorted from The Bin

I had wanted to enter this into the "Ultimate Build-off" challenge, but then I realized I'd disqualified myself for showing WIP pics a while back. Anyhow, hope you enjoy.  Thanks for tuning in!

Re: 07/20 Ultimate Scorpion!
« Reply #969 on: July 21, 2013, 12:02:39 AM »
This was to be my submission into the "Ultimate Build-off" contest, but I missed the deadline.  The goal was to create the ultimate, realistic style Scorpion from the "Mortal Kombat" series.  I really had fun making this figure.

PLAYER ONE: SCORPION!  STAGE SELECT: ABANDONED WAREHOUSE!        FIGHT!

Gear!  Grasping right hand, open right hand, sword, sheath, kunai, chain-linked kunai effect, alternate skull head!

"GET OVER HERE!"

Different views:

The build:
Body/Head/Arms/Legs - MU Hand Ninja, red and white versions
Kunai - CW Embo
Sword/Sheath - ARAH Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow
Open Hand  - Blanx Alpha
Grasping Hands - SW Clonetrooper, Phase 1
Skull Head - Cap'n America movie Red Skull
Harness - POC Red Fang Ninja
Kama - Red Faction Marauder

Those of you that have been with me for a while know I love the MK franchise.  I've done mash-up Scorpions, but this is the first "true" Scorpion I've built.  I may need to make him a Sub-Zero to fight, lol.  Anyway, thanks for tuning in!

This looks great to me so I have to get it on the front page.

And you know what, we have known you for many years now and always loved your work. We decided to allow it into our voting thread.

Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate the love. The MK franchise is a long time favorite, and I enjoy trying out the characters in different styles. So far, I have this Ultimate Scorpion, a set of MK/SW Mash-up Mandos, a Lin Kuei squad in Joe style, a Shira Ryu squad in Joe style and a pair of MK/Predator mash-ups I don't think I've ever shown.
