Holy crow, and then I get told right after lunch today (just before I left for a funeral) that I have about 36 hrs to deadline for some magazine articles I'm working on for a new sci-fi RPG oriented e-zine. (same company that is interested in the book)  So, dang - I gotta put my hobby on hold to make another hobby work!  Then I gotta come back after getting the articles submitted and clean up my molding and casting operation, so I can get a list of parts out there for interested people to peruse (and purchase from)!!

The good thing - income tax refund showed up in the "pending" section of my bank account.  This means a pressure-pot and a lot more resin supplies are about to be ordered!  Of course, with a pressure pot, I think I'll have to rework several current molds to take advantage of the new tool...

The coveted pressure pot. Can't wait to see your results, Doc. sounds cool about your other hobby taking off. It's terrible when you have to put one aside to pay attention to the other. I have had to do that for years now............

Cool deal Doc, take lots of pics so we can see this bad boy. I take it a pressure pot eliminates the hated bubbles that arise in molds and casts?

It should do so, yes.  Also, it will help push resin into the smaller crevices and crannies, like antenna tips and such.

I called the closest Harbor Freight and asked if they had one in stock.  They did - ONE! - and she pulled it for me.  Major help, since they are on backorder on the website and the store is 60 miles away.

http://www.harborfreight.com/2-1-2-half-gallon-pressure-paint-tank-66839.html

Since HF *is* just around the corner from Hobby Lobby and this week *was* the 40% off 1 item coupon, I picked up some more HSIII for making molds and more resin for making parts.  The cashier got kinda huffy about me suggesting he look the other way as I came thru someone else's line with more supplies after making a large purchase of other items.  (Bec bought the resin on one account, I bought the mold material on another account - that was the best I could squeeze out of the kid.)  I can get the same HSIII online for the same price as HL's sale (if I buy it in the equivalent of 10 boxes at once) and the 2-gallon resin kit is, iirc, significantly cheaper.  Given that I have to make a 120+ miles round trip to support their store, I've effectively paid out any shipping charges in gas and sales-taxes.  So, I suspect I'll have to be ordering the majority of my supplies online to beat costs.  Keke is wanting to go to Books-A-Million (across the street from HL) to spend some of her accumulated wealth, so I suspect I'll end up getting my supplies from HL this week.  But if I catch any flack, I'll have a print-out of where I can order the material online coupled with a break-down of how much I'd spend to get each item and I'll have me a chat with the store manager about doing business semi-locally with his store or else doing business with the same company they get their material from.

Okay, I'll be honest - the "one coupon per day" fine print *IS* there.  I disagree with it, because I have to drive 120 miles to give them my money.  That means I've just coughed up something like $24 in gas to specifically shop at one store.  There's very little other reason for me to go to that particular town.  I have no problem with using one coupon per purchase and then taking that purchase out to my truck before making another.  I also usually end up buying more than just the "one item with coupon" - partly just to be sure my trip was worth making.  I might have one other competent purchaser with me, so I could get two items per trip through the register and out to the truck.    So, if they want to be difficult about my trying to maximize the utility of my shopping trip, I'll have to take my business elsewhere.

Sorry for the rant, that kid at the register just really aggravated me today.

Forgot a MAJOR SW purchase - snagged the limited-edition widescreen DVDs of the OT movies at WalMart.  They have the "special edition" versions *AND* the original theatrical releases!!  This was a major disappointment to me when my old VHS movies started wearing out and I had to retire them.  Naturally, the theatrical releases were unavailable on DVD.  I might go ahead and pick up the prequels as well - just to have a matched set.

Random photography.

This is the "tramp freighter" Soleil Mandrake on approach to DSTP-412, Outland Station.  Nothing fancy about the models, just the cd-rom Falcon game-controller paired with a Reactive Armor Ripcord who was handy.  The backdrop is a custom piece by Mr. Ryan Wolfe of Ki-Ryn Studios, being a modification of his Argos III space-station from the Future Armada line.
