flaccideagle's Custom Figures
« on: July 13, 2011, 12:48:42 PM »
Hello everyone!

I focus on making custom vehicles, but I also make figures every once in a while.

Here's a few of the ones I've made over the past few years.

NOSTROMO ASTRONAUTS - FEBRUARY 2011

Here's some of the favorites I've made... a pair of astronauts from the 1979 movie ALIEN.

They obviously aren't screen-accurate, but I wanted to have something from the sci-fi classic in 3-3/4-inch scale.

They retain full articulation, and the helmets are partially removable.

I always loved the white emergency suit that Ripley wore at the end.

Here's the other one.

I just love this headsculpt.

The B-Wing body works so well with the armor from the minifig.

Here are some of my rebels.

REBEL FLEET TROOPERS

Simple headswaps can make your armies that much more awesome.

Another of my favorite headsculpts.

REBEL TECHNICIANS

I can't wait for the re-release of this guy.  Need as many as possible!  I have a deep, deep love for the non-violent, repairman-type figures and background guys.

REBEL ENDOR COMMANDOS

Just a GIJOE Rock N Roll figure there on the left.  The trenchcoat and helmet hides his joeness.  You can get a LOT of variations with this figure, by just swapping heads and gear around.

A sci-fi backpack and rifle helps Rock N Roll fit in with his new unit a little better. ;)

My rebel "army":

I hope you like what you see guys.  Thanks for looking !!!

Excellent use of the Kotobukiya chain bases as display.  Have I mentioned before how great these things look displaying SW figs?  ;D

I love the simple head/gear swaps,  myself.  Quick way to make a *wide* variety of characters.  Incredibly useful if you are trying to populate a larger scene, like rebel commandos or a cantina or a space station.

Thanks so much guys... again I'm more of a vehicle guy, so any tips or suggestions is greatly welcomed!

Thanks so much man!  yeah I love these bases.  I really wish I had more, as you can stack them and make all sorts of cool hangars and such.
I see Silof is offering some DS walls and other masonite pieces that look awesome.

One day I will have to share some pics of my collection, as it's basically one big long crowd display.  I'm really into the backgrounders.  I started collecting around 1993,1994, and had a pretty sizable vintage collection (I was missing two vehicles boxed, and Vlix and Yakface!) until I sold it all in the TPM days.   I got back on from 2002-2005 (Bo Shek brought me back, 2005 price increases made me leave) - Once 2007 came around and the quality of the figures got up to the VOTC standard, I came back.  I was pretty crazy about Admiral Ackbar and had a pretty serious Ackbar focus up until around 2003?  Almost all the vintage carded variants, mail-away, shirts, cards, masks... i wish i never sold that stuff.

Nice customs! All that rebel crew is really cool!

Thanks so much Kaleb!   I army build sandtroopers, stormtroopers, pilots, and staff/crew.  Despite the cost and trouble, I *love* the crew figures.  I'm lucky enough to have four of them, and I plan on getting as many of the deluxe figure as possible!   In order to keep my spending in line I really only get crew, cantina aliens, and anybody new from the original 1977 Star Wars.  I really love figures like Willrow Hood and Bo Shek... the background guys you can barely see.    One day I will army build Yarna, the Rancor Keeper, and Willrow. ;)

I will see if I can dig up some more pictures of my custom figures.

What did you use on those Alien figs for the suit armor/helmet?  Those are neat pieces.

Thanks so much DD I check out your blog every day.  Your Chalmun from last week is AWESOME!  I always loved that painting and your custom is a perfect match.

Kubricks can match up size-wise to 3 3/4-inch sometimes really, really well ;) - small screwdrivers frees the glue...

COOL!

Thanks so much!!!
