I hope you are strongly inferring we'll get something close to the POTF 1998 Electronic X-wing.

I know market forces play their part but I have to say looking at the 2011 X-wing /Darth Tie combo and Y-wing rehash I'm already disappointed.

I just don't understand why a manufacturer spends time to create a fantastically accurate scale model  in 1998 then reverts to something which I believe is inferior on so many levels.

Flip flopping between design and scale is a backward step in my opinion. Perhaps Hasbro don't hold the mold licence on the 1998 variant, I don't know the politics of this.

I also know that when is a toy not a toy......when it's in scale.

If they are going to give us a trench run diorama perhaps the option of decals for the various red/gold wing groups might be an option and maybe just maybe a group of pilot figures not yet seen.

Theron Nett Red 10
Davish Krail Gold 5
Tiree and so on

I'd like to see many of the rebel pilots get the modern figure makeover in terms of articulation.

rant over....

To be fair I do like the new tauntaun and landspeeder

Marvelousnews.com was in attendance for the Marvel panel, and here are some more that were announced/shown coming out in 2012...

- Ultimate Spider Man in Wave 1 for 2012. Also Beast with articulated toes, Hulk, Beta Bill and Kraven. Wave 2 Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man ( different versions including the white one from Fantastic Four and Paper Bag Spidey, Punisher (New Sculpt) & She-Hulk, Kang. Other Peaks include Nova, Hercules, Nighthawk, Puck, Jubliee, Angel, and a Masterworks of Fing Fang Foom.

There was a pic of the new FF Spidey in his white costume, which is DOPE!  Not one character on this list I'm not excited for, except maybe Punisher, though if he looks better than the past 2 versions, I may bite.

Sweet, because their coverage pics were VERY blurry!  I'm even MORE excited now!  From the pics I did see of the prototypes, they look pretty sweet thus far!  The pic of Puck has him doing a handstand, which is awesome.  The Nova, Nighthawk, Angel, Jubilee, Hercules, and a huge Fin Fang Foom are spectacular looking!

Ok so what new things have you the most excited? Out of all the lines?

For me for SW it has to be the GG Veers Mini-Bust followed closely by the Sideshow Boba Fett. I am also really liking the Vintage Boxed vehicles and Taun Tauns!

I gotta say, "Make Mine Marvel!"  From Hasbro to Gentle Giant, I'll be spending plenty of money on those things this year.  For Star Wars, it would be the Sideshow Boba for sure.

SW:  The possiblity of having a SA Darth Maul, love it.  Something I have asked for at lest 2 years now.  THat and Ben Quad, I know he is a goofy design and all but he is one of those aliens I always wanted.  And (believe it or not) Savage Opress.

MU:  Beta Ray Bill (been on my want list since Toybiz's MLS/SHS on of my fav characters), She Hulk (LOVE she hulk), Daredevil and Bullseye (The most needed updates to this line), And Hulk (The fig I wanted when they did the first hulk).

GI Joe:  OK nothing new shown but-Zombie Viper just an off the wall idea but it works for me, Staker, I dig the braids somehow mon, Renegades Scarlett, Really one of the better looking Scarletts I have seen ever, I am not too excited for the other tenegades figs but that one makes me happy.

I haven't had a chance to look over Transformers (but I imagine its more Dark of the moon stuff), nor any of the smaller lines, which is what I am doing today, more on that later.

http://www.theterrordrome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13122&p=137542#p137542

Terrodrome has up a set of itnerviews that are disheartening, specificly saying that we have seen all of the 30th ann figures, that the accessories will be cut back (lame excuse again), there is also a bunch of contradictary info there as I bet Hasbro and the Joe brand are VERY disorganized and mismanaged.  Some weird questions too (Street Fighter figs?  Jasswares has that licence?).

Anyway this probably has some hints at some possible less than stellar news in the future (cause you know they are down playing).

I just bought a set of Deltas from Tunghori so they are being taken care of.
Other than that, I will have to pick up 2 sets of the TFU II figures and hopefully 2 more Starkillers. Might have to enlist a fellow Shipyards to help me get them, though...

From TNI (This one got past me somehow).

http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/forum/go/to.cgi/http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=304&itemid=17478

Apparently an online exclusive (with the option of subscription) but classic Volton Lions with pilots in 3 & 3/4 scale.  The lions can merge to make a huge 22 inch Voltron.  BIt pricey but could be worth it.  I like anyway.

Not sure if any of you have seen the interview the Echo Base site did with Derryl DePriest.  If not, it can be found here:

http://echobasenews.com/interview-derryl-depriest.html

Of particular note to me was the following Question and Answer:

Q:
BigBadToyStore.com sells the new cases of twelve figures including all the carry-forwards for $105 whereas a set of just the six brand new figures is around $70. What do you think this shows about the demand for the carry-forward figures?

DePriest:

"The demand is low for carry-forward figures because collectors already have them. However, in the past we have developed exclusive programs just for this channel, to concentrate only
on new figures. It was a disaster for us because we would commit to cases of only the new figures. We would design six figures at a time and pack the extra slots with troopers, and in 2008 we ended up holding a massive amount of inventory in our warehouse, built for this channel. It worked fine for about a year and then we just ended up holding a lot of inventory that I eventually had to write down. So we learned that we cannot satisfy both of our needs, the mass retail needs and the collector needs without incurring tremendous risk, and we've decided to put the risk on our relationships with mass retailers and we can't do things a different way because that product isn't going to ship to Walmart or Target. The case packs heavy on new figures, no Vaders, no Lukes, no, you know, Qui-Gons, and Obi-Wans, those are not good to ship to anywhere else other than the collector accounts. When we were left with that inventory it was bad for the company because I went out on a limb to sell that and we had to end up writing off quite a bit, so...short answer, there isn't another way unfortunately to create a better path. I think Big Bad Toy Store has the right model, to take those out and sell them for a higher price collectors are willing to pay, and sell the rest at probably a lower price, you know, just like others do."

Seriously...EPIC FAIL, DePriest...EPIC.

Wow where to begin, there is so much suck in so many things.

"Well, again it's a necessity because the troops in Vintage sell very well."

Uh really?  I can take DDP to an even dozen stores that are clogged with White Vintage clones and sandtroopers (PS being that I live on the state line, I would be showing him stores in two states right there).  If that isn't enough I could take him to another state (4 hours away) and show him the same thing.  If that were not enough I could take him to Maryland (Where I was in May) and probably show the same thing.  I am also betting in North Carolina has the same issues I saw there too, which are-the same thing.  If it were one of those locations, ok, but come on.

"However, in the past we have developed exclusive programs just for this channel, to concentrate only on new figures. It was a disaster for us because we would commit to cases of only the new figures. We would design six figures at a time and pack the extra slots with troopers, and in 2008 we ended up holding a massive amount of inventory in our warehouse, built for this channel."

OK was I alseep or something, I never remember anything anywhere about this.  I ain's saying he's lyng, but WTF??  Was this in legacy, Vintage (no he said it was over a year), clearly he implys it was after he took the line (after he ran GI Joe into the ground).

""The challenge with newly sculpted figures is we can't afford to build whole lines on newly sculpted figures so we have to have carry-forwards. "

He used to say the same thing about GI Joe, and while he was there it was repaint after repaint, sometimes the same figure 3 times in the same year (Zartan in Spy Troops) and even then my instant responce was "Why not slow it DOOOOWWWN! so that you can put your best foot forward.  So far he hasn't invoked the "WM demands constant new waves" as he did in Joe, which is BS since lines like Coprs only change once a decade.

"Will there be a Darth Maul resculpt next year with more ball-jointed articulation?
"We're likely to use our Evolutions Darth Maul."

UH WHAT!?  Does that mean the Maul we were shown is NOT SA?  Nice investigative reporting.

"Is there a Classic Trilogy 'big vehicle' planned? Maybe a repainted Slave I from The Empire Strikes Back?
"No, not this year, but we're optimistic that a repainted Slave I might be coming as soon as next year. We revealed here at Comic Con all of our products that are coming out for the rest of the year."

I guess that settles that debate about the big vehicle this year.

Dunno who this Dredd Priest guy is, but all this really makes me wonder which amateurs Hasbro hires to do their marketing stuff.
They make the most fundamental of all marketing and customer care errors: they don't listen to the requirements of the market.

He's the SW brand manager, previous to that he was the GI Joe Brand Manager, he was in charge of GI Joe when it was all 2 packs and wonky proportions (2002-around 2005).
