No comment on the vibrator, but if you want to get the air out and will be doing alot of castings there are a couple of ways,

1. Search Ebay for a used lab table top shaker, these are used in may ways but  use catagory lab equipment

2. Make a vacuum vessle to draw the air out. can be difficlt to get right but once you do will produce manufactured quality, I would only recooment this is you plan on doing alot of casting in the future.  You can find homebuilt plans on google I would assume.

And option 3 is pressure-casting, which I was looking at last night.  I plan to experiment with all three methods, unless one proves clearly superior fairly quickly.  The big issue for me at the moment is that I have to use my planned workshop (the BIG one, not the shed) as storage while we get this trailer-house sold and the stuff sorted.  My planned workshop will be made from a 48' refrigerated semi-trailer.  ;D  Insulated and everything.

Oh, yah!  My dad buys and sells "junque" of the type generally seen driving up and down the highways, hauling cargo.  Back in the spring, he bought up several loads of stuff from a guy cleaning out what had become something of a junkyard.  Said loads included a couple of damaged refrigerated ("reefer") trailers.  Knowing I needed storage space, he offered them to me.  As I was still working a pipeline gig at the time, I had the $$ to drop on them.  So, I now own a couple of former food-hauling trailers and am filling them up with my own junque!  One will be turned into a workshop for me and Rebe to ply our crafts - woodworking, molding, model-building, soap-making, sewing, and the like.  The other... well, it might become storage for junque we can't bear to let go of or maybe a backup camper(!), or maybe even... a BARN!  (one of them *is* a barn-red in color)

I'll have to take pics and put it in the "workspace" thread.  ;)

That sounds  so cool Doc. You guys in the States have so much more room than us Europeans, especially here in the UK, it's just rows and rows of tiny houses, bollowing black smoke, horse and carts and people yelling ooooh aaarrrr!

I'll keep an eye on the Workspace forum! (oooh aaarrr)

HA!!  You lie!  There's not enough room in the UK to HAVE a horse!!  Much less a horse AND a cart!  hehehehehehehe

Yeah, we're pretty sloppy with our space over here, once you get outside the huge cities.  We are in no way as efficient as Europeans.  We still have a *lot* of frontier-air about us.

Doc, those tables are great! You should put them into a cantina scene, they'd fit right in!

Picked up the young Owen Lars fig last night and opened him up to get at the HK part today.  So, not one to leave well enough alone, I started messing about with him.  I discovered Owen's head fits quite well onto both Capt. Needa *and* our new Hoth Rebel Trooper!  Needless to say, out came the camera for a series of shots...

LOL, now that was in informative head swapping  session, Doc. Thanks for that. It wouldn't be too hard to drum up some diversity in between a few of the new hoth rebel troopers, I see. That helps.

I've been meaning to reply for some time now on your work, Doc. You've got a knack for finding all kinds of everyday stuff and make it part of that GFFA. The coke cans and tables are just great, especially because of their simplicity.

I also like that labor droid a lot. And yes, paint it up, dude!

Great going on the Needa and Lars head swaps as well. Lars makes for a great extra Hoth Trooper  8)
