Today at NJCC, I scored the following:

I also won this in the raffle:

After NJCC, sgcaper and I hit up a local TRU and split an "Animal Planet" Giant Squid Playset. This is my part of the set:

Forgot to post this but I picked up a Fire Mario figure recently. Its from the Super Mario Figurine Collection, which are 5POA.  I just need to get Fire Luigi and my 5POA figures will be complete.

I also picked up another Fire Mario figure, but from the World of Nintendo line. This line has better articulation. This one should be coming in the next day or so. Included is a yellow question block with a "mystery item" inside, and I'm more then sure (and hope really) the item is the Fire Flower.

And here is Fire Mario from the World of Nintendo line. Really loving these new articulated figures, and the question box with an item included is a real nice touch.

Tonight I hit up my local 5 Below and picked up 2 of these "Skylanders Giants" Starter Sets. The portals are AWESOME for fantasy projects once the cord and electronics are removed (I also removed the transparent white piece near the bottom and the actual bottom as they do not match the rest of the portal texture-wise).

Also, the Cynder (dragon character) figure can be used as an immature dragon as it is not too cartoony (just needs a more realistic paint job). The other figures have useful elements (backpack and hose from the eagle guy and the wood giant has several beautifully sculpted wood knots that are easily removed with a hobby knife) so you get a lot of great fodder for $5.

I want to go back and get a few more either tomorrow or Monday after work.

That would look great as a base for some of your fantasy/LOTR custom line Dan.

I picked up the last 4 Skylanders sets at the 5 Below by my house giving me 6 portals, dragons and sets of fodder cut from the figures of the other 2 characters.

I wish they had had 2 more sets though as there are 8 unique symbols on the portals and I would have liked to make some form of display with 1 portal each having a unique symbol highlighted to serve as the totem for 8 different wizards/factions/etc.

There are 3 more 5 Belows within a reasonable driving distance so I will check them eventually for 2 more sets.

Wow, it must be nice to have so many stores that close. I have two total. Both Wal-marts.

Hit the 5 Below in Paramus and scored 2 more Skylanders sets.

They had 30+ left so if anyone in the NJ area needs some go to the RT 17 location.

Don't have a 5 below store.

Our closest version would be a Tuesday Morning or TJMAXX

5 below is awesome. I went to a store while on vacation, but they only had one SW Figure.

After the nice surprise of finding those awesome "Skylanders Giants" sets at 5 Below and seeing how great the portals work for fantasy projects, I decided to hit up the Game Stop closest to my house to see if they had any different styled portals (each update to the game has had a new style of portal).

They were having a "Buy 2 Get 3 Free" sale on all of the used Skylanders/Disney Infinity/etc. game accessories. I found 2 different styles of portals (Swap Force and Trap Team). I picked up 4 Swap Force and 1 Trap Team portal for $16.

The Swap Force portals just needed the cords removed to be useful, but the Trap Team one needed to be disassembled to flip the clear center over so that the textured surface was on top. This required cracking the white ring all of the way around, flipping the disc and then reassembling and gluing the ring as there were no screws and the whole assembly was glued/sonic welded. It was a pain in the backside but a necessary move in order to make the piece far more impressive once I modify and paint it.

Swap Force Portal:
