Topic: Need Legacy AT-ST joint "New Pics added again" 9/9/11

After reading Clonehead's post, I opened the joint and found that the joint is now has a second tear in the same place on the other side! Ugh, my favorite vehicle now having a soft spot for Rebels to say shoot at. Here's the pics. Also, I think I know why they keep breaking in the same spots. If you look at the second pic you'll see the joint connected to leg connector. Well, I can't get the joint out or turn it. So with that in mind, I said "Oh, now I know why.". The joint has too much pressure from being too tight on the leg connector. Making the piece were mine split being a soft spot when turning the leg.

Hello, the bottom pic is not mine; but to symbolize what I need. I circled the the joint. It seems that even if you got your AT-ST above 2 ft. of ground can still break the joint if the impact hits it. Mine is split in 2 and superglue doesn't even help.

If anyone has a broken AT-ST and has a complete joint like the one circled please PM me.

I would try a drilling and pinning procedure on that part, Orange. Superglue would work in that circumstance.
Just drill a hole in either piece of the part so that one length of wire will fit in the two holes once the pieces are joined together and seal the deal with glue.
I usually use a pin vise "finger drill" and use a length of copper electrical or craft wire for the pin.

thats the same area mine broke but on the back part..........it still stands but in an awkwardly-wide position...

If you can get me a few pics and and a detailed description of this issue I would love to see what Hasbro says about fixing this problem! Sounds kind of like the first AT-TE leg issues.

Yeah, it seems so. I wonder why H didn't make the joint out of rubber or soft plastic? Would've held better and not broke like mine and Spookys.

the problem is, it's very brittle plastic and it snaps pretty easily. Mine fell about 3ft to the ground (thanks to the dog) and snapped. But I have seen other people report them breaking with less stress. I even heard the Target exclusive AT-ST is even more brittle then the Walmart one.

Hm..., this needs to be addressed.  I've had this thing for 2 years and suddenly I bump into it and it falls at 2 ft. and cracks the joint?!  And the problem is, it's a Wally exclusive  so how if I called would big H handle this problem? I mean last year I bought the TFU set on sale  that was already 1 year old and it was missing starkiller's force lightning. H gave me another one after sending the screwed up one to them. Though that was a year difference, now we're talking about 2! Would H even have another one to offer if I contacted them?

Well Hasbro does have a customer service email addy for those of you who want to email directly, but I am going to take your pics and description of the problem and email my hasbro contact directly to see if he can place the issue in the right hands for a quicker and perhaps better follow up. If nothing else, we would use this as one of our hasbro q and a questions. Just from doing a little snooping on a couple boards last night I can see this is a pretty widespread problem. Not sure why we haven't all gotten together and addressed it before.

Clint's fox would work well or you could try something I have been experamenting with...plastic welding with a sodering iron. You simply touch the 2 parts together and spot weld it melting the 2 edges of plasic together. You can also add material from bits of plastic or a plastic baggie.

You know I was thinking of you when I saw these pics this morning Clint. If anyone can fix this, it would be the Clonehead.

I have a similar issue on my Walmart version. I bought it used and it came to me like that Not sure if it broke during shipping or if the seller sent it like that.

I figured that there was some kind of mushroom shaped peg back there. If you were to squeeze the two parts of the peg head together, would it pull out of the other side.

I can still fix it, Orange. I would just have to drill and pin both ends of both pieces and glue it together to seal the deal. It might not be sturdy enough to stage, say, an atst demolition derby match, but it should hold up to normal posing. So the joint where the mushroom peg is is too tight? We could fix that too, one way or another.
