I sure do wish I knew how you guys cut around those figure pics and insert them into the backgrounds and then add those same effects and textures. Good stuff that.

hmmm... for some reason my browser is not moveing the reply box down if I type longer than the space provided.... I wonder if it's trying to tell me soemthing?  anyway,

Sounds like Vista or IE 8 issues,  up on top of your screen next to the adressw indow there should be a broken paper symbol next to the refresh button,   click that and it will run in compatability mode, that will fix the reply and posting issues,   I have to do that as well with my comp and browser

Anyhow the fig looks great.

Nice western mando fig, Spud! i like this version better than the old one. Those first two shots of him holding the rifle are killer!

I wonder if I should try a heavy construction mando, were I to attempt a self-custom?

It might be a windows7 issue, as that is what my new laptop is running....

tamer, I'm using a different program but it's basically the same in photoshop.  There is a "lasso" tool (fitting for that custom huh?) that cuts around shapes and there is usually a "snap feature" which clips the cutting selection to lines in the existing image.  This is why I like taking my photos agains uniform white or black backgrounds, this makes that automatic snap feature alot easier to work with.

thanks everyone for the comments! I appreciate it.

so I've sold a few of my figures on e-bay last week...

one figure was bid on twice so I made an offer to remake the figure or a new figure for the person who was outbid.  The figure in the auction was the mandalorian scout.  they wrote me back and told me:
Quote
you can make it how ever you want. try to make him as cool and tough as possible. add what ever you have tomake him look unique. thanks again.

so I need some suggestions for a "cool and tough" mandalorian concept....

Thanks Hemble, I'd realy like to do something I've never done before with this one (which will be hard since I've done so many)...

And honestly I'd like it to be something simple.

I have the holiday debut boba fett figure from the BAD two pack that will be my base figure.  I think I'm just going to start looking through my fodder bin and throw different parts on it, mix it up a bit, and see what I can come up with.

Sorry, I'm still laughing about your first post with the self custom, and I quote(in regards to his self custom) "I'd really like to resculpt his cod piece"

LOL

My wife even laughed at that, :)

This looks pretty good, man, dig the long horn mythosaur.

I'm gonna start this post with a little photo I set up the other day:

I have done a few mando's havn't I.... lol

well here is one more!  This one was done for a guy on e-bay who got outbid on another figure, so I offered to rebuild him the figure he bid on or do a new one.  I whipped this one up tonight after mulling over it for a while.

I finally decided to do it in a desert theme.  I had some pleather material laying around so I decided to use that to make a kama for him.  I used the holliday debut boba fett as the base figure.  I wrapped his cape around the helmet and glued the tip back to the top to create the "scarf".  It's not realy posable but can be flopped behind the helmet in a "hood" like fassion.

His backback is a joe pack that I liked for this one, a jetpack just wasn't working for me on this one.... besides who said all mando's have to have jetpacks?

one thing I liked about the pack was it had a little clasp for holding a machette, instead of the knife I've used it as a place to store the figure's customized rifle.

enjoy:

heres a couple WIP shots of some other projects I have in the works:
