Spuda you are amazing!!!!, I was thinking how to articulate a pair of 1/6 droids and you just gave the solution, on the soft plastic dilema you may want to use the same material that is used for making molds, it's soft in layers will be flexible enough for you to insert a wire and bend.

I don't know about amazing....    so what solution was that?  Im guessing using pin heads for ball joints?  (that's the only thing I can think of that I've posted lately that would work on 1/6 figures....)

Idk how I would make the silicone mold material into the shape I'd want.... my only fear with using that is eventually the silicone breaks down and cracks too.

You are right, Spud, Tamer will like that.
Wow, that is a boatload of parts. I see a few pieces in there that I wouldn't mind having.

ok, as promised I whipped up two more non-mando customs.

In my normal fashion I took two figures and converted them into super articulated figures using the gi-joe hips and legs.  this time (like the last few mando's I've done this way) I decided NOT to try and use the original figure's legs but find a close enough gi-joe analogous part to substitute in for the original figure's legs and then add bits and pieces cut off the original to get that same look.

first I'll show you the parts added to the figures without paint so that you can see what parts remained original and what parts were modified/changed/swapped:

I'll split this up into two more posts to keep it better organized

Sweet progress on those two, Devin. Dude, that atat driver is already looking slick. I think that I want it but Tamer isn't going to let me have it.

first up is the snow trooper.  It was the hardest of the two.  These two figures are different than the other legacy style clone troopers in that their chests are made up of the soft rubbery plastic instead of a two part clam shell hard plastic piece.  I like the two part pieces better (like on the joes) because they are easy to split open and manipulate.  with these two figures I took an approach that I've used on super articulating the Animated Clone wars clones (I think there is a tutorial which showcases this technique on those clones in the references forum).  Basically I made an incision up each side of the chest, underneath the arms, to convert the solid chest into a clam shell chest.  This made removing the old bottom half easier as well as facilitated dremeling out the peg hole in the center to accomodate the new joe torso joint.  In hindsight I should have boiled and popped the torsos instead of cutting them (I'll show why later).

as you can see in the last picture the cut up the chest is very evident... in my attempt to close the chest back up and glue it back together I accidentally glued the arm's peg in and while trying to pose the figure the peg twisted apart and broke...  SO.... i am going to have to get a second snow trooper figure and replace the entire upper torso.  This time I'll boil and pop the old torso out and be more careful with it.  If I do it right I'll be able to put the broken figure back together and make a stationay model out of it... OR cut the figure down to basic armor parts and make molds of the armor and use the rest of the figure as fodder.  (which I'll probably wind up doing).

clonehead, if you realy want me to make you one I'll be more than happy to do so.  I think I'm going to keep at least one for myself though, my super articulated clones and troopers is growing just about as big as my mando sets that I've kept!

something I forgot to mention on the snow trooper.  The knee pads were cut off from the original figure and trimmed up and glued onto the knee pads of the joe legs.  Then a strip of craft stretchy cord was wrapped around the back of them and glued on to simulate a strap.  Small diameter stretch cord was used to create the three straps along the top of the boot around the ankle as well.   I tried to make the gi-joe parts look as much like the original star wars figure's parts as I could.

pk, here are the final results of the at-at driver. Honestly it turned out the best of the two.

I believe I can actually remember which parts I used for this one too.  the hips are from a 25th arctic snake eys (same part as the hips of the 25th arctic viper fyi), the thighs are from a ROC pit commando,  the knees and lower legs are from a 25th duke (pretty sure...)

Beautiful work on both, Devin! You do realize that poor Tamer will likely crap eggrolls when he sees these, tomorrow morning.
I would FP this right now but I believe that he would prefer that pleasure.

Outstanding figures, buddy.

ha!  I don't feel like I've "outdone myself"... I broke it while trying to take pictures of it!  now I have to buy a whole nother figure to fix it!  :(  oh well.  At least I'll have the extra fodder parts.

unless someone wants to send me the money to buy two new snow troopers so that I can fix mine and make them their own super articulated snow trooper...?!?!?!, the extra figure for myself would be considered payment for the extra joe parts that I'd be using from my personal stash... everything else would be at cost for whoever wants me to do them a figure, and it wouldn't have to be a snow trooper... it could be an at-at driver... or mando.... or scout trooper... or any other super arty conversion I've done.
so... send me 15.00(ish) for buying two figures, one for me to fix my broken snow trooper, and the other to be returned to the generous soul super articulated.

mmmmm eggrolls... I hope they are pork eggrolls....
I realy didn't even think about him liking these until I started posting them. lol.  I just got them from the store today to work on because it was something different and I didn't have any of these figures yet.

I also have a galactic marine which I'm thinking about giving the same treatment....
