That's eerily close to the young Harrison Ford.

And re the X-Wing, the simple umber wash really did the trick on the X-Wing. I did the same with the large Millennium Falcon, a simple yet very effective weathering job.

  I definitely remember that one, Jules. Your Millennium Falcon is something that came up on google as I was trying to collect reference for the A-Wing. I wasn't even sure if anyone was re-painting Star Wars Hasbro Vehicles..then I found the Shipyards.

  In other news....
   While my wife and I were busy with other things..Apparently, I was supposed to submit another round of final pics for judging and voting in the Big Spring Contest at scalemodeladdict.com ..I goofed.

   I never sent any final pics in before the deadline.

  SHazbot.
  Anyway...I'm going to post these here..

wow, that really sucks, on the bright side tho, I know it must be horrible having that model sitting there, mocking you, reminding you that you didnt send in those winning pics, so if you'd like, I would be willing to take that model off your hands and store it. :)

Hey there, guys..
  As always I do appreciate everything you guys have to say about my work. I had to blow off steam and get some comic book work done and I also needed something else to decompress from the Han Solo job. I don't know if I can describe the process..all of the apprehension as I pretty much guess my way through every build.

  A couple of notes that I'd like to hit on is that I've talked to Tamer about showing up for a couple of episodes of CAFN. I'd like to thank Tamer for his consideration for this. I've listened to every interview so far and have enjoyed the season so far. I'm looking forward to it and I hope I can make it entertaining or at least interesting enough.
  Moving right along, I'm about to kick this one off soon.  I have a Micro Machines Snowspeeder that I am going to toss out at the Samurai Geek Designs page soon. I'm still working on a few other projects as well, But I think I can get this one done pretty fast.
  I was thinking of painting this in the traditional marking, but at this point, I would be open to suggestions..I've seen the desert camo and well as forrest camo paint schemes. I was just wondering if there has been one that hasn't been done yet.
   Anyway, here are some of the progress shots for this one..




It's missing the harpoon gun and the landing strut..


Finally with a coat of primer and ready for paint.





  More on this one later..but you guys take care and I'll post more on this one again.

Looks promising. I so prefer the traditional paint schemes. I must say that paint job Spry put on my McQuarrie Snowspeeder was among the best speeder paint jobs I have seen if you care to look at that for ideas.

Looking forward to talking about your work on CAFN too. And then we got him to agree to come back on a roundtable we do on lighting!

Hello Fellow Shipyarders
  I hope everything has been well with everyone out there in their neck of the galaxy. I have a new figure update..but this isn't the 1/8 scale..this one is actually a 1/4 scale Darth Vader that has been thrown in my utility shed for over a decade. This is a vinyl kit so there has been some restoration on this one going on. The helmet for one is a complete overhaul from what I had before. I simply painted his entire helmet Gloss Black. But I have always felt that something was completely different and missing in most miniatures of this iconic villain.

   The helmet always looks like a toy to me when done in gloss black..so I studied The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and took notes. Here are my results.





The bottom neck piece is a mix of Vallejo natural steel and gunmetal.
  The top face plate is a mix of gunmetal and black.
     The outer helmet is sprayed with a heavy coat of gloss black



With the lenses painted black and the entire head gets coated with Future.




The nagging issue with this figure was the chest piece..I thought it was poorly sculpted but I had no experience with modifying a kit at the time so I never tried to change it.
  This figure clashes sabers with a Luke Skywalker from Return of the Jedi..the chest piece had to be fixed..
 So, I cut one out of some chipboard that I had laying in the garage and started to layer primer and sanding between coats..



Here are today's results..
